****....Holiday leftover items....****

Postby Colette » 30 Mar 2011 16:40

As the season is now approaching us, people are arriving in Icmeler, can I please take a minute to ask for your help. As you know my passion is animals and I wouldn't be me, if I didn't ask for something for the cats and dogs appeal.

So I am not asking for cash, nor for you to donate any of your holiday time ( unless you wish to walk the dogs ) just please if you have any leftover toiletries, books, towels, shoes, belts, clothes etc you are wishing to leave behind, please , please take them to the ICR office ( next to Tandoori Sizzler ) and leave them with Michelle or whoever is in the office.

These will then be used by the girls from the dogs home for fundraising events and all the money raised is given to looking after the cats and dogs in Icmeler. :D

Many Thanks for taking the time to read this.

This is a great idea, I usually take my leftover things to the charity shop at Turunc but this would be much better as its not always practical to go to Turunc just before departure,

Great idea Colette, we allways leave behind toiletries, books and even some clothes that we don't have room for. Good to know that this year our leftovers might help raise some money for the dogs and cats :)

Yes we did, but we didn't publicise it from the start of season.

As John says, if anyone wants to donate any animal goodies as well, leads, collars, toys etc. All will be greatfully recieved.

If the ICR office is too far to walk, you may also drop them at The Robin Hood Bar as well, thanks to Barnie for allowing this :D

Does the last sentence mean that the two barnies are mine hosts at The Robin Hood Restaurent and Bar.
If so, I for one will make a special visit up there to say thank you for all the pics and updates we have received over the winter months and take any goodies we have left from our hols.

Shampoos are no good.

Jan told me the other week that the vet has advised against it as it harms the dogs natural coat.

I will take the sun tan oils though  and any left over booze you cant fit into your case

Just spoken to Jan from the dogs home, they absolutely need left over toiletries, books, towels, etc etc as they are allowed to run table top sales weekly and also will now have a stall at the Wednesday market selling anything they can get ( apart from clothes at the market as we don't wish to upset the clothes stall holders )

so please please leave any left overs you have at the ICR office or the Robin Hood Bar and lets help the Icmeler animals.

I also have a story to tell about a Turunc Doggie and what happens to it, it shows why we need donations etc to help these animals out, but the story is far far too sick to post on here, so if anyone wants to know it please email me on [email protected]. Please remember though it is not a nice story.

Think thats all for now

Leaving books and toiletries behind also gives you more room / weight in your baggage for prezzies, or goodies for home.

I've taken an extra bag or part empty suitcase in the past just for lace or curtain materials for our Turkish style sun room at home.

The room looks very authentic with traditional decorations and a great reminder of sunny happy times at all of our Turkish destinations.

We use some beautiful crystal glasses at our dinner parties from a factory near Altinkum.

I've wedged huge lumps of garden pottery into cabin overheads much to the disgust of cabin crew, but all of the effort is worthwhile when good quality souvenirs get home safely and stay in view as reminders of happy times.
