Something new in 2011

Postby Turuncveteran » 11 Nov 2010 12:03

While many of us will be going back to Icmeler/Turunc for the umpteenth time in 2011, how many will be doing something new/different while there. Myself, i tend to do the same things every year (and love it by the way), but I'm trying to think about something new to look forward to next year. Will help keep the mind active over the long winter months.

Any views on what others would like to do but have never just got round to it previously (the walk to the flag was a great example this year for some on here), or some examples of what you have done recently that was different but enjoyable.

I'm not really sure what I'm looking for as I've done most of the organised trips - just thinking of something 'different' if you know what I mean.

Hubby and I are planning our next trip to Icmeler - probably for June - but as it'll just be the two of us this time, and we're planning to come for either 12 days or a fortnight (depending on flights), we were contemplating the possibility of spending the bulk of our time in our beloved Icmeler, but maybe combining it with a few days elsewhere.
Anyone got any suggestions? Ideally, we were thinking of somewhere quite small and quiet, not too far from either Dalaman Airport or Icmeler.

We do a day trip to Datcha it has a lovley beach that you can walk out &the water does not get very deep + there is a market on a saturday .There is a few of us that get together & hire a mini bus for the day. Or you could do what my husband did last year & do white water rafting he is 64 today so i think he was trying to relive his youth at the time.He also went fishing for the day with some friends which is some thing diffrent. Each year we try to do some thing out of the normal holiday acctivaty other wise it can tend to get a bit boring.

Microlighting !!! I like the sound of that Ron. Assume this was a tendem flight or were you on your own? Might look into this if I can pluck up enough courage to do it.

I have only seen Microlights in Hisaronu.A microlight is like a motor bike with a wing and a propeller at the back. You sit at the back with pilot in front and you wear a full face crash helmet with a mike so you can speak to the pilot. My grandaughter and i had one each and her one had a video camera on the wing so that we could both be filmed. The cost was £50 each for 30mins and £20 for a full 30 min dvd, well worth the money,RON

About 5 years ago I seem to recall seeing a dingy size boat, with wing and engine attached, it was flying along Marmaris front, near to the 2nd McDonalds, This is the nearest to an official microlite I have seen near Icmeler.
Does anyone else recall this???? :) :)
Personally I wouldn`t mind either Paracending or Scuba, for scuba I need to find out if I can wear Prescription goggles under the face mask, as it seems pointless diving if I can`t see whats down there.
Anyone got an answer????

This is one of the most exciting excursions in Marmaris/Icmeler.
You need to apply early for your seat as seating is limited.

Ron Stewart. We did the same as you a couple of years ago and it was great. Had a week of none stop trips and activities and then chilled in Icmeler for 8 days. Did you parachute of the mountain in Olu Deniz. I didn't do it but my husband and our daughter did it (she was only 13) but they absolutely loved it. She wanted to do the microlight thing as well but I put my foot down after jumping off a 6000ft mountain my heart couldn't take anymore in one week !!! Next time we go we will visit the castle in Marmaris, I am so ashamed to say we have never been yet
