Ayran can taste quite salty, but really good for you. Similar to a yogurt taste, but saltier.

aw really thats a good thing to know blondie :)
i didnt like it to start with but i love it now :D it is an aquired taste though so i can understand why people dont like it

I love Ayran - so much so I looked up how to make it! :D

All you need is a good quality Greek natural yoghurt, water and salt (I have seen recipes which say to add mint but I never have).

Mix the yoghurt and the water in equal quantities, add a fair sprinking of salt stir well and allow to settle of a couple of hours annd hey presto - Ayran.

My friend makes it as well now and her Turkish husband reckons hers is as good as any he has tasted!

I'm counting the days down - Icmeler 2010 part 3 commences on the 1st October for 18 days.... Can't wait! 8)
