I think things should stay as they are, if people want to dance all night and listen to music then got to Marmaris!

If people want things to change then perhaps Icmeler is not the place for them? I would not change a thing. Very many love it there and return year after year so why try to change things? Just does not make sense, if tourists want loud music on later there are plenty of other resorts for this. It isn't good for those staying in the close proximity of the loud bars who don't like to stay up till all hours, especially if they have early start for trips etc and don't forget all ages enjoy Icmeler, kids and elderly so midnight to me for the loud music to stop is a happy medium and an acceptable time.

mahaba
I usually holiday in Marmaris where the bars are open till the last person leaves. the music is turned down low, not sure what time, but you can still sit and enjoy yourself and have a good crack on with the staff.
i dont see why bars have to close at 2am. im a bit dissapointed actually. may be a compromise is needed? turn the music low after 12am in residential area but let the bars stay open.
hope i can find some where open after 2am? any one know if there are any?

Back to visa problems. I posted that I overstayed 1 day in June and was banned for 5 years but I could apply to the Turkish consulate in London. I went on 28th July with my application and they wanted bank statements, pay slips and a letter explaining why I overstayed and why I wanted to go back. It then got sent to Ankara and the wait is 6/8 weeks. It is 7 weeks on Wed 15th so I am waiting every day, stalking the postman, checking my e-mail and hanging on to my mobile for dear life. watch this space.

I am in Icmeler at the moment. On the way out our flight was delayed so we didn't arrive until stupid o'clock in the morning. First thing was to check into the hotel and drop the luggage. Second was a visit to the 24 hour shop for a couple of beers (yes, they do open them for you). Third was a walk to the 24 hour kebab shop. There were people still drinking in bars. We were invited in to more than one for a drink. All I can say mickyq is that bars do not close at 2am.

On another note, we fly home tomorrow so had our 'last night' last night. Tonight we have had a lovely meal and a couple of beers and have come back to the hotel to try and get some shut-eye. The bar downstairs is banging out the music but we know that come midnight we will be able to sleep. If the music was turned down low we would still be able to hear it.

As I have said before - please leave Icmeler as it iis!

Leave things as they are in Icmeler, if you want to listen to loud music untill early hours then like others have said go in to Marmaris and head to bar street.

Personally i like things the way they are.I also have no problem with a designated thumping tunes area.if i had my way i would put it by the canal where the market stalls used to be.We could then see what kind of ambiance the complainers prefer.

The day they lift the ban on after midnight music is the day I stop going to Icmeler. If this is the scene you want go to Marmaris. Allowing zoned areas for late music will be the thin end of the wedge. Yes, I am the older generation and you may well say "bah humbug" but finding a resort with a late social scene is a lot easier than finding a quiet one. I am also sure that couples with a young family are ready to call it a day when midnight strikes.
