May/June 2015

Hi all. Arrived in Icmeler yesterday after spending first few days of hol in Akyaka. So quiet and peaceful there...very. Turkish place, no fish and chips or English breakfast and my very limited Turkish was stretched to the limit, lol. Now at Sun Village and relaxing after a walk along front to see the big new Orka lotus hotel. Seems busy, but workmen still working on the place and it's not my cup of tea to be honest. prefer little places like SV. Ate out last night at Kayra Pide and enjoyed menemen for breakfast today at Meryem Yemek Evi. Icmeler does seem quiet but there are still some great value meals to be had. Strange to see the shops without the goods on display outside now. Still loving the place though - no change there, lol!

Really hot and sunny today. Barely a cloud in the sky at the moment. Went to beach again today to enjoy the breeze there. Nice meal at Alins last night and off to Meryem Yemek Evi tonight. Not found that much change in meal prices to be honest. We've not paid more than 80tl for an evening meal for both of us yet...that's less than £20.

Hi again. Meal at Meryem Yemek Evi last night was outstanding. Mixed grill was delicious and they did a liver dish for us which was also very good. I never eat liver at home but this was lovely. Excellent value too. Today we took the dolmas into Marmaris and went for a visit to the castle. Never been before in all the years we've been visiting. We did take a walk up a few years back but it was closed then. Definitely worth a visit...nice views and some interesting exhibits, mostly from the archaeological remains at Knidos neat Datca. Oh, and you can't escape Mama Castle, the old lady who has a wee gift shop near the castle! Another really hot day today too, so just chilled by the pool this afternoon.

Hi Blondie

We remember Marmaris Mama's shop on the way up the Castle.
Lovely old lady and a bloody good sales person.
Felt as though we had to buy something to be let go past and into the castle
We enjoyed the castle with its views and history.
We then made our way the the Castle Bar up all those steps at the rear and then ponder
for an hour or two at the fantastic views with several cold beers. Luxury :P

Only 2 more work shirts to go and booked in at the Kapmar.

Thanks...have been sampling menemen at various places throughout the resort all week. Since my last post, we've really just been chilling out either at the beach or pool and enjoying walks around the old village and elsewhere. Had more lovely food too - went to the Turkish night at Club Sun Village the other night with some others from Sun Village. Good night out - food was lovely and there was entertainment from break dancers, belly dancers and Turkish folk dancers. Another lovely meal at Meryem Yemek Evi last night - meals here have been the best of our holiday without a doubt. They also make a mean menemen too! Our time here seems to have gone by quite quickly...can hardly believe it will be time to go home tomorrow.
