Last week we actually managed to get to Mugla and visit the orphanage and pass in some of the gifts that were left at the office by our guests.

I think that they were a bit wary about us at first because they couldn't get that foreign visitors would want to help them but after Rami did his talk to them and explain about us and all the people who have been reading this post they got to understand a little.

We gave them over 600 Lira in cash and a suitcase full of toys and stationary which they were delighted with.

We asked what would be useful to them and they told us that stationary was always welcome along with any toys that people sometimes store away that belonged to their own children.

I did not take any photo's as it just didn't seem the right thing to do but we did get a little info as in there are 2 buildings and they house the 6-11 ages and also the 11-17 and next year they will have a new building that will take in infants and up to 6 years.

We will keep you all updated on all gifts coming in and if you have any room in your cases have a look in your lofts for any old toys for a donation.

Thank you all

Yes of course Lynda I forgot to add that and maybe if you don'rt want to take your beach towels home then they would definitely be used.

One thing the lady did mention was the likes of toileteries as in tooth paste and brushes and the usual stuff.

Will bring extra toiletries with us in September and other bits and pieces that we can fit into the suitcases (I'm sure I could leave something behind), pens, pencils, paper etc.

From Donna

First of all everyone at ICR and Mugla orphanage send BIG thanks to all of you who have spent time and money in bringing things in to the office for the children.
John and Rami took a whole suitcase to Mugla filled with toys, books, colouring pens, toiletries, hair accesories and a whole host of other things.
Secondly, as a reminder, we are still collecting, and will be throughout the season. Anything you would like to bring to the office Tracy or I will be happy to receive on reception and pass on.
Please also remember it gets cold here in the winter months so any warm things such as scarves and gloves will be greatfully received.
Thanks again.
Colette
