Renewing visa via Rhodes

Postby Katiehutchinson_1991 » 09 Jan 2010 18:55

was wondering if anyone has renewed their visa via Rhodes before
if so what was their experience like ?
does it just cost £10 to re-enter turkey at the border ?
can the turkish people come on the day trip with you ?
is it the best way to renew your visa if your staying in Turkey for longer than 90 days ?
thanks in advance

if so what was their experience like ? ON THE BOAT AND OVER TO RHODES AND DO SOME SHOPPING
does it just cost £10 to re-enter turkey at the border ? YES
can the turkish people come on the day trip with you ? ONLY ONES WHO HAVE VISAS AND TRAVEL EUROPE FREELY
is it the best way to renew your visa if your staying in Turkey for longer than 90 days ? UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY FOR A FLIGHT TO BULGARIA OR NIP HOME FOR A FEW DAYS
thanks in advance

Its not a cheap day out though! And the hydrofoıl takes longer than they say (and Ive been a few tımes and ıts always been rough and Ive joıned a faır few others ın throwıng up on the journey).

Rhodes ıs lovely the fırst tıme but personally Im happy ıf I never have to do the vısa trıp agaın!! Make sure you go and fınd Marks and Spencers and a few other 'englısh' shops.

Go wıth enough days left on your vısa ın case they query ıt and dont go mad buyıng duty free as they are lıkely to check your bags.

Its exactly as if you were returning home to the UK.

Legally you can bring in 200 smokes a few litres of spirits etc but........

If you buy the booze and smokes in the port of Marmaris just before you go through customs they leave you alone.

Smokes are too expensive in Rhodes compared to Turkey but the booze is cheaper in Rhodes.

O'h and if you mention you are going to Rhodes you will have all the bar owners in Icmeler waving shopping lists at you.

I don't suppose there is but Rhodes doesnt do a cheap market like Marmaris and what you can buy there you can get in the UK cheaper anyway

aw well no point in buying it there then when i can get it for cheaper in the UK cause the last thing you want to happen is to be stung at dalaman for excess baggage
thanks for the advice not decided if im going to do it or just go for under the 90 days so that i dont have to go
is it still 90 days ? or 3 months ?

If you are only goıng to gaın an extra week then I wouldnt bother wıth Rhodes. Its a hassle and (ın my opınıon) ıts not a nıce day out. You would probably end up spendıng at least 80-100 pound whıch could be saved for flıghts another tıme. What month would you be thınkıng ıf goıng as the hydrofoıl gets unrelıable towards end of season

It's definitely 90 days and not three months - I recall posts on here before from people who have been caught out in that way. Costly mistake to make...

Just a ihought but what happens if your delayed and you go into day 91 or for some reason you are unable to fly on day 90 say due to illness then what happens. Must admit don't think that I would be taking a chance or risk flying home so close to my visa expiring.

Just be careful Katie
