Luggage allowance.

Postby sannyrut » 17 Sep 2009 08:57

We got a shock this morning. After packing our cases we found that both were a bit over the 15 kilos allowed. With a bit of juggling,we managed to re-organise and transfer some items to our hand luggage(5 kilos each). The last time we travelled the luggage allowance was 20 kilos not including hand luggage.Quite a difference.Has anyone had problems at the check in desks with overweight luggage? We are flying from Glasgow Intl.

Have never had a problem at either Glasgow or Edinburgh in past years, but this year they do seem to be clamping down on luggage weight. Now Dalaman is a different kettle of fish, make sure you're not a gram overweight or you will be charged. Safer to be within your allowance than out of pocket.

When we went out from Cardiff in June this year, one of our cases was spot on 15kg and the other one was 16kg. We got charged £8. We could have transferred some items to our hand luggage, but seeing that it was only 1kg we just decided to pay.

We will definitely be more wary of the weighs in October when we return, but we do have 20kg for the October holiday, so happy days, plenty of shoes and bags

got charged at Glasgow last october for being 8 kilos in total overweight
they charged £9 extra per kilo so we had to pay £72 which my mum wasnt pleased about at all
15kg is not enough luggage
but glasgow is becoming more strict with the luggage allowance so be careful

Cases and hand luggage now both packed, weight appears within the allowance and we are already for tomorrows flight out to Icmeler.Just had a thought I have lost almost 2stone since last years flights should'nt I beable to claim a rebate from the airline for the difference instead of worry that my bag may be a couple of pounds over the top.
