I know I'm probably swimming against the tide here but is there anyone else who just doesn't like apple tea and actually prefers a nice strong cup of chai?

Welcome Susi1962. Chai is far to strong for me. My OH likes chai and I prefer the apple tea. I find the Turkish is far too strong...I am just a wimp though! So my vote would have to go to apple tea

Hate stewed tea (chai). It reminds me of the mornings that I forget to take the tea bag out of me cup when I am looking at
ICR webcam! Reminds me...withdrawal symptoms have set in. The webcam is stuck!!

Always buy half the shop when stocking up on apple tea to bring back to England. After all, we need enough to keep us going til our next trip...haha

Does no-one agree with me (apart from Starchild01's husband)? Chai is wonderful stuff - best thing ever at breakfast, with fresh bread and rose jam ... ...

Thank you - a man with taste!
I discovered chai last year (after several visits taking apple tea) and it's amazing. Seriously reminds me of the tea my mum and gran made - properly infused and smoky taste. Can't wait till I go again in October and look for it in the Tansas!

Haven't even heard of chai before but will be sure to have some when we go in 3 weeks time. I usually go for the different flavoured teas, my favourite being cherry, I bought a huge bag of it at the market in June and still got loads left.

Susi1962 is talking about cay (Turkish tea)...pronounced chai. Far too strong for me, but my husband loves it. Got caught in
Marmaris one day, and entised into this nice little shop...came out about 3 hours later having bought about 12 bags of different flavoured teas. Spent a lovely afternoon tea tasting

Yup, I'm a cay girl too! I do need just a small amount of sugar in it though - even though I don't normally take sugar in any other drinks!

I'm definitely a cay girl - discovered it a few trips back and have loved it ever since. However my daughter, Zeynep, loves Turkish apple tea and can't get enough of it when we're there. We have brought some back with us in the past but she says it just doesn't taste the same when she's not in icmeler!

beech wrote:Chai every time. It's the only thing to drink with a traditional Turkish breakfast. I also find it quite refreshing. It does not have to be strong. Just put almost half from the top pot with the leaves and then top up with boiling water from the bottom pot.
On our first trip to Turkey in 1991 I had an upset stomach and I was advised by a local to have a Turkish coffee. Believe me it worked and if I have an upset stomach whilst in heaven I always ask for a cup of Turkish coffee and it does the trick every time. Just remember not to drink the mud.

Thanks - I'll try that. I do like it strong but sometimes it's a little too much. And I must admit that last year was the first time I didn't have a stomach upset so I wonder if the cay has similar restorative properties?!
BTW - "remember not to drink the mud"?? Confused!

Mud - the thick part of the Turkish coffee left at the bottom of the glass.

Thanks - being a confirmed tea drinker (can't touch coffee - makes me ill) - had never heard of that!

Can't drink khavi...it makes me bounce better than tigger, and better than Nescafe. Hubby finds it fun to watch...he has a wierd sense of humour

I will definitely be sticking to apple tea again this year
