It's best to check with the company you're planning to travel with first - some will only accept under 18s if there is at least one person aged 18 or over travelling with the party.

It's an insurance issue for them, years ago they used to accept under 18's travelling alone, but they way the world has gone the airlines don't want to accept responsibility for a minor which is what you are still classed as in the eyes of the law.

hi Katie
my daughter flew alone last year with Monarch when she was 17 - return flights
I specifically checked before booking the flight and also checked that Travel Ins would cover her under these circs
I booked the flight independently and booked the transfer with ICR - they were great in making sure she was fine at Dalaman on the outward and homeward journeys

I'd suggest getting in touch with ICR re your flights as am sure they'll check everything out for you, so at least your mind will be put to rest

Katie,

F** G*****n will also accept you, although you may need a letter of consent from your parents. However, they will only accept you on a flight-only basis. They do not book package holidays for under-18's.

Hope this helps :)

I travelled on my own when i was 17. I went into TC travel agents with my Mum and booked the flight. All my Mum had to do was sign the letter to say she gave me permission. No questions asked at airport. One thing what did go wrong though was my flight coming home was changed from being on a Monach airline to being on a TC one and because i was flight only they couldn't get in touch with me to let me know so nearly missed flight home.
