Holiday flu injections

Can anyone help me please? My dad was told at work today that anyone travelling to Turkey must have a flu injection due the swine flu outbreak. Not sure if his workmate is pulling his leg, but he seemed to be serious when he said it.

Haven't read anywhere that this is compulsory - as surely, if there was a vacination against it, people here would be getting it to prevent it!

My tickets arrived today and flying out 3 weeks tonight, so if anyone has any info on this, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks :?

Was just about to post the same Steve!

Blondie - I think they might just be pulling your dad's leg. Keep an eye on the FCO website as it's updated regularly.

Hi Steve

Thanks for that, it really helped. I think my dad's workmate has just been scaremongering.

I really appreciate you replying so quickly as my mum has been worried since he told her, but I can firmly put her mind at rest now.

Thanks again

Audrey

There isnt a cure / vaccination against it as such, its Tamiflu that is being used when necessary as an anti viral. And they only give it if there's a particular outbreak. There's been the odd few in the North West.

So no vaccinations against it. Also my boss just back from MExico and she's been fine (so far).

We were told this at work (i work in the NHS and we get weekly updates)

Immigration at Dalaman were wearing face masks when we arrived a few weeks ago, and you were given declarations to sign that you hadn't been in contact with anyone with swine flu or travelled to risk areas, but that's all. They obviously don't want it in their country, but the media is somewhat stirring near paranoia on this subject. Really don't worry :)

Went into my doctors today after a repeat perscription and was asked which chemist I used and they would forward it direct as they where trying to keep down the number of visits to the surgery because of the swine flu. ......So if your ill stay away....
