Handling my ££ long term in Icmeler - your thoughts please??

As many of you know, I'm going to be spending the best part of 5 months in Icmeler this summer ( :D )
My concern is how to handle my money over there. I don't know what do for the best!

I have a Nationwide card, but am a bit concerned that I'll have trouble with the cash machines when it gets busy. Also, if I were to opt to use Nationwide, am I best to withdraw my money in Lira or Pounds? I heard that the card gives a better rate than the resort, has anyone got any idea how different the rate is? Gotta make those pounds work hard! :D

Thanks for your advice in advance!

Hiya Jools
when i was there for season last year...i was just withdrawing the limit i could for the day,so it tied me over!! Instead of going back and gettin charged for every withdrawel.
I was getting the money out in Ytl also---found it easier to be honest, instead of looking around for the best rate...rates where always resonable at the machines

Do you get charged with Nationwide then? I wasn't in America and was under the impression they are not charging in Turkey, but things change!

Cant be 100%, but Im sure I read somewhere in one of the national papers, that they were going to come in line with others, and start charging, as it was costing them too much !!

We recieved a letter from them last week stating which countries they would not charge for using your card in this summer and Turkey was one of them.

Ahhh that's good to know. Thanks!
So, do you think that Nationwide is the best way to go as far as money handling goes?

Used Nationwide last year when it was 2.35 in the resorts. Never got less than 2.40, mostly around 2.45. Definately not charging for transactions in Turkey THIS year !

Thanks for the advice guys, looks like I'm best using my Nationwide account then.
Kirky, when you say you went to the main bank, do you mean you used the hole in the wall ATM outside of a bank rather than the standalone ATM's in the main square?
I think I tried to use one of these last year with a different bank account and couldn't withdraw, but it would be handy if I could with Nationwide.

I always use the bank on the opposite side of the road to Tansas, just further down from the 3 bells. You walk down about 15 steps to it. I had no trouble using my Nationwide card there every day last year.

I know the one you mean. Oh, excellent!
I'm pleased I'll be able to use an ATM attached to a bank. The idea of losing my card to a hungry cash machine fills me with dread!!
