Icmeler Poets Corner

Postby Rami Off Work » 30 Jan 2009 00:29

Heaven on Earth
There’s a little piece of heaven in Turkey Called Icmeler – it’s so beautiful there.
With a hilltop view over the sea so blue, there’s nothing else to compare
There are hundreds of restaurants in Icmeler, so many you can’t visit them all
There’s the Moonlight, the Pyramid and so many more, even one with it’s own waterfall
Through Icmeler’s centre is a pretty canal, it has bridges with flowers and lights
With little craft stalls selling treasures galore It’s so gorgeous when lit up at nights
There are boat trips aplenty from Icmeler with cruises on the Aegean and Med
The jeep safaris are poodles of fun drenched with water from foot up to head
It’s sad when it’s time to leave Icmeler, the place where you made some new friends
You say your goodbyes with a tear in your eye, and hope you’ll soon come back again

Written By Christine Walters

Thank you Christine for such a beautiful poem!

Lovely poem, anyone else got any Icmeler poems to share with us?

Here is one I wrote, not very good so no laughing

In Icmeler the sun shines through

In morning rain, the mist and dew

The town awakens , it's brilliance is clear

This is the town we love so dear

--------------------------------------------------

The dawn breaks, the day begins

The guests awaken, and remember there sins

The sun in the sky, like a ball of golden flame

Time for the beach , the sunbeds still the same

--------------------------------------------------

The sun sets, the evening draws near

Time for dinner and a vat of beer

We eat, we drink, we dance the night away

For tomorrow is a brand new day

--------------------------------------------------

Before we know , it's time to go

We cry as we leave, are friends are sad we know

One thing is clear and very true

Next year we return, just me and you

Col what can I say.
Only a person moved by the setting sun could write such verse.

OI I was not drunk when I wrote that

Fanny good idea to rename the thread, if Rami doesn't mind, as I seem to have taken over the thread

The idea was to get you all to write a verse or two about your favourite place so come on put pen to paper :D

Find the words that make a rhyme
for the poets corner on Icmeler Online
Doesnt have to be soppy, romantic or blue
Just jot down the wonderful memories so true
The walks on the beach, canal or the park
Staggering home in the morning while dark
Hungover next day, we try to keep cool
The only solution is a dip in the pool
The wonderful days on safaris or boats
Walks to the mountain and feeding the goats
Stroll to the canal feed the ducks with some bread
Still complaining about a sore head
Back to Vince's for the hair of the dog
Remember the antics to put in your blog
Head to the room, our footsteps are light
Wondering what top I will wear tonight
Jump in the shower, I hope its not cold
Its freezing again, oh Phill, you are bold
Dressed to the nines, we go back to the bar
Ill have a vodka, Phills is a jar
Where shall we eat, is the usual talk
Not really sure we go out for a walk
Once we've eaten, we take in the sights
The sea view is lovely all lit up with lights
The music is playing the waiters are dancing
Tina Turner is singing while Michael is prancing
Football is playing, they're wanting a goal
While Elvis performs his rock and roll
The music now quieter, people start to head back
To hotels and apartments, to hit the sack
We're now back at Vince's in sleepy mode
Theres a crowd at the bar, lets have one for the road
And so it goes on for a full fourteen days
Each morning we wake to the wonderful rays
Good Morning Icmeler, its another great day
Im glad i'm in paradise I hear myself say.
I am sure we all want to say thank you so much
To our friends we are leaving, but we will keep in touch.

I love my trips to Icmeler
As you go down the mountain you smell her
Its a wonderful sight
By day or by night
Off to bed now so 'Iyi Geceler' (Turkish for goodnight pronounced Gejeler)

ICR trips with Rami and John
Drunken days when we all sing along
Shaz and Donna come too
We all dance Agadoo
For a tenner you cannot go wrong.

Vince does a wonderful lamb
He also serves toast and jam
Full breakfast a must
Fish pie lovely crust
and pasta with chicken and ham.

Entertaining way to pass a nightshift!
