Chapped and Split Lips .....

Postby geordie1970 » 09 Mar 2014 18:30

Hi All, does anyone else suffer from 'split and chapped' lips whilst on hol?

Just a daft post to ask the question, I wouldn't think it's dehydration as I drink plenty iced water through the day and only 1 or 2 Efes ... Honest!

Don't fancy looking like a Cricketer while away and be walking around wearing White Sunblock that's all this year!

You don't have to use the white stuff, just get yourself a decent lip balm, one which contains an SPF and keep applying it regularly. I used to send it out to my son when he was in Afghanistan and it did the trick.

A good lip balm is called --- Burts Bees.
I normally take one as i seem to need it after a boat trip.
Can also be used in UK in winter time.

I always take a small tub of vaseline with me use it sparingly during the day and then plaster it on before going to bed. Keeps my lips nice and moist. But beware, the heat will soften it in the daytime!!! lol. Or as previously stated a good lip balm should do the trick. Good luck x

I suffer with cold sores, yes the sun brings them out. However I've found that a good sunblock stick has kept them at bay the past few years. The one I use is SOLTAN SUNBLOCK STICK, 25 maximum protection. It is not greasy and it is transparent when applied to lips. It is also in a small handy lip stick sized stick so is easy to slip in a pocket and reapply during the day.

...... Thanks to one and all  ... Much appreciated and I'll make sure Mrs G buys a couple for us to take away ... Just goes against the 'Masculine Geordie' way to be putting things on my lips! Lol

Cheers for the heads up .... The only thing I 'like' about them is that when they're still there 2 weeks after we get back, I've got a permanent memory for a bit! Lol

I always suffer chapped and cracked lips in extreme cold or hot weather and I have found the only lip salve that works is Blisteze. It comes in a small pot or stick form and is the only one that works effectively for me.
