Wi fi and charges - help please :)

Postby tinkerbell » 02 Aug 2012 08:41

Hi, ok - so I'm a little unsure on mobile charges abroad.
I have a Blackberry and always switch my roaming off when going abroad (to avoid the obscenely high charges!).

I have never used Wi fi in bars, restaurants etc but was thinking this year that I might.

If I connect to Wi fi (and have my data roaming switched off) will I :

Be able to send and receive emails for free
Browse the internet for free
Use my apps for free
Use BBM for free

I understand that texts, MMS and calls are always chargeable though - that much I do know!

Any advice on using Wi fi would be greatly appreciated xx

Hi tinkerbell,
Most bars have wifi, and it's "free" while drinking there, all Apps and Emails and Internet use, will be free, just make sure roaming is OFF. Take a look at, viewtopic.php?f=32&t=13654 this will give other options to BBM.
Enjoy Steve

Another app for you to use on your phone for free call's and text messages is Viber, as long as the sender and receiver has this app all text and calls are free when you use this app
