Fake money in resort, a little heads up.

Heard yesterday that there is quite a bit of fake money in icmeler, and anyone found with some are being arrested and questioned!
Not quite sure how we can spot the fakes though, it's hard enough in the uk!

Oh thats not good as you say chris its hard enough to spot fakes in the uk ,let alone abroad and the thought of being arrested and questioned for something as innocent as mabye getting a fake note in your change is not good  ,thanks for the info on that one chris

Hi Chris
That happened last year too. We were advised to only change money at the exchange places and not in bars, etc.

Not sure how they can question people if you get a note in your change that's dodgy, how are you supposed to know. Fingers crossed none of us get caught out.

I would say use the exchange office as you get a receipt for your cash

i was shown a fake 50lira note in june all i can say is the paper was much thicker and some of the spelling was not right, but you have to look very hard for it.

my friend showed me one he was not happy as he lost money, being turkish he could hardly afford too.

As far as i know reesy its 0% commision but 3 % goverment tax this could have changed though ,even if you do use the exchange offices as they provide a reciept that is still not going to cover you if you recieve a dodgy note in your change in bars ect ,unless when you exchange it you ask for the amount to be in 10 lira notes only :?

The onus would be on you to proof you have legally obtained lira for sterling to fund your spending from beginning of your holiday to the time you got caught with a fake note.
