Kindle

Hi All, I'm a newbee so please be gentle with me

My Daughter and mayself both have Kindles and think they are brill. We can now take 12 pairs of shoes instead of the normal 10 as we don't have loads of books weighing us down

We will be turning them off at the airport as we were told that the xray machines may affect them, has anyone else heard this?

We also have ziplock bags so that there is no risk of getting sand or sea in them

Anyone else a convert?

ps 6 days and counting :D :D :D

just wondering where you got the ziplock bags from as I'm worried about getting sand in ours or splashes from the sea. Thanks

I'm a kindle convert, absolutely love it. Not taken it abroad yet so don't know about switching them off at the airport.

I've seen some ziplock bags on ebay for less than a fiver, watching a couple till payday lol

Hi,

Got them from Home Bargains, 75p or something for 20 small ones (also useful for suncreams!), the Kindle fis a treat. I think you would be able to get them from any supermarket in the freezer bag isle :)

Hi
Like Dawn said the ziplock bags are just plain old freezer bag types you can buy in the supermarket. Having read the reviews on the "proper" ones I would stick with the above. Apparently the proper ones are the same as the cheap and cheerful ones but cost a lot more. Hope this helps.

Dont know if you have a Decathlon near you they do waterproof bags in all sizes from sandwich bag size upwards at reasonable prices

If you have the 3G one, switch off whispernet before passing it through the xray machine.

it might sound like a daft question to some but what the hell is a kindle; or is it just my age showing? :? :? :?

A Kindle is the Amazon brand name for an e-book reader - basically it's like an iPod for books! You load books onto it electronically, which means you don't have to cart them around with you.

Kindle is a registered brand which has started to become used in general conversation, other examples in past are Hoover, Biro, Sellotape again all registered brands that have become generic names for the same item from any manufacturer.
