Postby sueles810 » 14 Nov 2010 14:14

Hi, wonder if any of you kind people could help please? we have booked with Agean for next May £6.00 each for 15kg luggage allowance, does anyone know if you can pay extra for more allowance or is that the max with them? starting to panic now about clothes as its a 10 day holiday

HI Sue,

We booked with Agean last August and yes you can pay extra for a further 5kg. In fact I think I did it on the morning we were going after seeing the mountain of clothes that were going in the suitcases. Just give them a ring and all details can be done over the phone. Hope this helps.

Its £20 for the extra 5kg, I always pay when I book-you can book the extra after you have alredy booked, I could be wrong but I think it is more if you book the extra baggage after you have booked the flight, sorry if I am mistaken about this but I seem to recall reading it somewhere. I always pay for the extra 5kg coming home but not going as I am usually loaded up with purchases and gifts coming home.

yeah im sure its £20 per person for the extra 5kgs which is a lot of money but unfortunately has to be done
because like others there is no way i could go on holiday for 2 weeks with 15 kgs being a girl thats just not possible with things like straightners :D

think that the £20 or whatever the cost is, is one way only - so if you want the extra say for your suncreams on the way out and also for extra purchases on the way home, you're actually looking at £40!
we considered it last year, but decided to travel light instead - £26 each way was simply too much

packing shoes and costume jewellery in our hand luggage helped us keep within the 15kg hold limit

We stuck to the 15Kg each this year and to be honest we did not have an issue and we were well underweight for the 4 of us we were at least 10KG below the weight limit both ways.

If you put your mind to it you realise what you don't need to pack.

Below is taken from my 2010 review

Due to the decrease in luggage allowance this year to 15Kg we had changed our suitcases for holdalls saving 6Kg in luggage weight, but we were still surprised how much we could get in these and even more surprised when we had finished packing that they only weighed 47Kg for the four of us so 13Kg underweight

I thought it would be hard for us with 15 kgs each this year, but it was fine.I bought a large holdall on wheels that only weighed just over 2 kgs and used this with a case,I was amazed how much I could pack into it,we were just under weight both ways, and I still didnt wear everything I took !! I wont be worrying now next year.It is an extra £20 each way with aegeanflights for an extra 5 kgs.

I pack most of my clothes in my hand luggage, and just used a laundette on hoilday that way I dont need the extra allowance and also on the plus side I dont need to do days of washing when I get home

I have a very large storeroom above my apartment and store a lot of bags for our returning guests.

They have their clothes washed and ironed before they leave the resort then leave them with us until their next visit

Thats it John take it off topic

off topic question though

If I had my stuff washed and ironed, why would I then shove it in a suitcase to be all creased again ?

aha Colette, you get it done on the last day and take your case - they'll pack it for you and it'll come out less creased than if you'd done it yourself hahaha  :D
