Thomas Cook -never again!!!!!!!

Postby mikendeb » 10 Oct 2010 18:13

Just got back after a lovely fortnight in Icmeler but the TC flights were the most uncomfortale I have ever experienced. It was too warm also and felt so claustrophobic.
We paid £15 ew to chose a window seat but the lack of legroom was ridiculous. I believe its only 29 inch seat spacing on TC. Outward the plane was B767 seating arrangement 2+4+2 coming cack was B757 seating on this was 3+3.
At 5 foot 10 I`m not tall but my knees were jammed in to the back of the seat in front and it was not possible to lower the table without having it jammed in to my belly (slightly protruding).
If anyone can tell me which alternative carriers give more legroom I can then proceed to book a flight for next year,
Review of our hol and photos to follow,
regards,
Michael

We went with J..2 this September, booked extra leg room, brilliant, arrived feeling refreshed and best of all no aching legs, don't know why we have never done it before. Have flown with them a few times and always found the cabin crew very friendly.

unfortunately we dont have any other option but to fly with TC from aberdeen
otherwise we have to go to glasgow or edinburgh
and we are thinking that we are lucky getting flights direct to dalaman from aberdeen

I always knew there must be some advantage to being somewhat vertically challenged! :D

Anyway, I'd still rather put up with cramped conditions if it means I can still visit Icmeler!

As far as I know all the charter airlines going to Turkey are around the same legroom unless extra legroom booked (and usually charged for) The long haul flights are the ones with the better legroom and seat pitch. If you are lucky and in the front of the check in queue you may get a better seat but I have gone very many times on shortish flights and only ever once got a front seat with good legroom.

Thomas Cook are the worst of all I have been on.

Jet 2 are the best along with Onur and Easyjet

We felt the same this year, we flew T*******C*** last year and was okay but this year it was terrible, my partner is 6ft 3 and ended up standing most of way, If we had known how crammed it was we would have booked extra leg room. Will definately book with another airline next year :)

i tend to use TC as they have really good flight times - it really depends on which plane you get. the last couple of years it's been terrible and really cramped, but this year we flew on one of the airbuses and the leg room was fantastic :D

J2 seems to be expensive from what i have seen or been searching for
maybe im just searching at appropriate times
although good legroom is a bonus

Would probably agree Katie, may not be the cheapest but choice of airports, good flight times (which they seem to more or less stick to), availability, customer service and smiley faces on the flight crew - worth a couple of £ in my opinion.

Best flights ever with Tommy C. The Airbus 330 had a TC Scandinavia logo on it and this meant nothing to us initially. We had pre-booked 2 seats behind the banks of 3 and my initial shock, being 6' 1', was the massive amount of leg room that I had. The second shock was the seat back TV's, not that we want them and the over all comfort of the flight. This was the same on the return flight although our pre-booked seats were not honoured due to having been allocated on our outward, return flight :!: Guess who neglected to check the online paper work

The question has to be asked of Tommy C, why are the Blondies (Scandinavians to you) given better treatment than the Brits :?:

 The answer probably is that they will not settle for second best.

We are with T**** C***. My wife and myself are both tall and to allow us to enjoy the holiday we have booked extra leg room both ways - £30 each per flight = £120 ouch! however if it is comfortable it will be worth it - I will let you know how we get on
