Hi all,

Booked a holiday to Julian Forest apartments in icmeler in a couple of weeks time, and was just wandering if there's any tips or advice I need?
Never been to Turkey before, or indeed the Dalaman area so tips on the culture etc. would be appeciated. I've also read on reviews that the Julian Forest apartments are quite a way out from the center of Icmeler?

Also I'm a keen shopper of fake items from abroad  so was just wandering if anyone can give any tips for the best shops in icmeler for brands such as Lyle and Scott, Superdry? A friend recently just came back from Marmaris and told me what a nice place icmeler is so really looking forward to it. :)

hiya :)
welcome to the forum
Julian Forest is a lovely place to stay you have chosen well for your first visit to icmeler
its about 2km from the centre but the little bus known as a dolmus stops right outside the door and takes you right into the centre of icmeler in 5 mins for 1.5tl each about 60p
there are lots of shops around icmeler for fakes just haggle and when you think you have a good price deal
you just have to watch the quality its common sense really
hope this helps
if you need any more information about julian forest just ask
i have stayed there 3 times

Glad we made a good choice :) do you have any idea what time the last bus is about on a night time? Just wandering as we will probably be venturing into town every night.

in the high season the last bus to julian forest is 1am
but there is now a guy that sits outside where the bus picks you up and drops you off and if someone is waiting for a bus he radios the control centre and tells them to send one up
hope this helps

loveboat and wayside are in my opinion the 2 best restaurants in icmeler
they are a little more expensive than most other places but well worth it for the quality of the food and the excellent service
there are lots of good restaurants in icmeler it just depends on an individuals tastes
hope this helps

Definitely try the Lal - Ottoman cuisine in a really nice setting too. The food is delicious - authentic Turkish food (no chips!) and there's no music etc either, they have a live musician who is very good. Can't wait to eat there again in October.

One piece of advice for Dalaman airport on your return journey:the food and drinkis really expensive there so i always tell my friends to take food with you for the journey and I always do myself,if your desperate for a drink then buy one but just to warn you they rip you off.

Cheers for the tips, another question...I've read before that the transfer from dalaman to icmeler with t***** c*** takes a lot longer than the stated hour and a half, anyone know anything about this?

Also, any tips on market days etc in Icmeler and Marmaris?

icmeler market day is a wednesday and marmaris market day is a thursday
the transfer can take longer than 90 mins as they stop for a 15 min comfort stop normally and by the time they drop everyone off at their hotels and apartments it can take longer
hope this helps

If you're on the main street where the Tansas etc are, you take the road which runs up the side of Azra jewellers, past the Romance Palace restaurant, keep walking and the Lal is up a bit on the left hand side.

Another question after reading some websites

Does Icmeler sell much fake branded clothing? Or am I best off going to Marmaris for it?

The only problem you'll have is the weight of your luggage when you go home after you've bought all your bargains!

If you start buying early on in your holidays you keep on seeing more and more things that you want to buy. I always take my luggage scales with me to make sure that I'm not over the weight limit.

Hi Tom, we stayed at the julian forest a couple of years back in late October and it is a lovely place dont think yoy will be dissapointed, just one thing that was a pain was the wasps, beacause you are right back next to the forest you tend to get a lot and when we were there they were dying off so a real b***** pain, they did have wasp traps everywhere but they didnt seem interested in them  maybe take a swatter with you :D besides that cant fault the place in any way, hope you have a lovely time
