As I was rushed I didn't check my receipt from OnurAir for excess baggage. I was told I had to pay £75, I paid £75, I even signed the receipt. The receipt clearly shows £70. My fault entirely. Just a little warning.

just read your review and its shocking how they dont print that and clearly state that is the amount your allowed
£75 is a lot especially at the end of your holiday and you dont expect to have to pay that for excess baggage

Sorry about what happened at the end of your holiday.

Can I ask did you book your flighst direct with with Aegean? I have just checked my booking confirmations for the last 3 years and it clearly stated 5KG of hand luggage.

"A passenger can take on the aircraft one small piece of hand luggage weighing less than 5 kg (11 lb), with a maximum size of 45 cm x 35 cm x 20 cm."

Check what yours says, if it is there you won't have a chance trying to claim the money back but at the same time I wish you luck.

Finally thankyou for posting a great review and a fantastic set of pictures, some of the sky shots are stunning.

I booked through ICR but have now found a confirmation from them that does state the 5Kg allowance. My fault (again) and I will have to read the booking confirmations more fully next time. Thanks for pointing that out - it has saved me an embarrassing letter to Aegean.

Just a point about this and that is I have never yet been asked to weigh my hand luggage and I do travel a lot and may have a lot to do with the fact that my hand luggage gets shuffled along the floor with my feet as I am moving down the queue.

Could be worth trying and if they had weighed my hand luggage at Manchester in April they would have found 22 kilos in it

I was doing the shuffle. I think they were desperate for some extra cash as this is the first time mine has been weighed and I have carried hand luggage heavier than my checked in baggage in the past! I now have some expensive lemons and olives but there is nothing in the UK to compare with fresh lemons from a Turkish market. (I follow the Reverend Sydney Smith on the necessity of lemons. )

I have had mine weighed before but was lucky enough to be under the 5kg x

My wife and her sister flew out from Glasgow on Friday, they had a case each and one rucksack/bag each, which would be lucky to weigh 1 kilo each. They put the cases on and they weighed 21Kilos each ( 1Kilo over the allowance ), the girl at check in said they could take stuff out their cases and put it in their hand luggage, they thought why bother with all the hassle and thought they will pay a couple of pounds each for being over.

They were a bit taken aback when they were charged £12 EACH, for 1Kilo...... The whole 20Kilo allowance only cost £10 each.

Think I would have been moving stuff to my hand luggage if I was saving £24, maybe that's just the Scots blood in me.

i have had my hand luggage weighed a few times now at dalaman and in the UK at birmingham, glasgow and aberdeen and all i take is a handbag which isnt that big

I have always wondered why airlines take a huge trolley of duty free aboard their planes.Why dont they set up duty free shops as you arrive back home.I would rather look round a shop than wait 20+ minutes for my case to come through.If the prices were good you would buy then rather than tug all through your outward bound journey.

Just a thought.

But that would mean competition with the airport duty free and lower prices all round! The mark-up on "Duty Free" is so high no one would be happy - except the passengers of course.

That makes me wonder if CMOT Dibbler has a pitch in Icmeler. Belief in the Tooth Fairy is obligatory for anyone to really enjoy Icmeler.
