Towels

Postby mrdinky » 27 May 2010 18:29

We are going to Ichmeler on 1 July for the first time and my wife has started to plan the packing already. As there are 4 of us (including 2 young daughters) we want to cut down on weight of the cases (so I dont put my back out carrying them!!!)

One idea is to not bother taking beach towels and buy them when we get there (Thursday afternoon) just wondering whether there are shops which sell towels and how much they are?

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Loads of places sell beach towels, even the supermarkets, usually 2 for £10 and really good quality

Yes, dotty's right, but be careful with your colour choice. I have seen people settle down on their brand new (dark coloured so as not to show the dirt) towels on the beach... and get off their sunbeds 2 hours later wearing the dye on their backs

You can hire towels from some apartments and hotels.

they are normally quite a good price
as someone said before 2 for a £10 :)
there are plenty shops that sell them around icmeler so dont worry you will be able to find them
and its a good way to cut down on weight and give you a lot of extra space in your suitcase :D

We also had the tip from the good people on here a few years ago, buy the towels when you get there, loads of places sell them, good tip about not buying coloured ones though, we always buy the cream or white, they are great value, and good quality , buying another two on Sunday(Yipeeeee)

We are going to Icmeler on 20th June All Inclusive, I have been AI to other places ( but never been to Turkey) and we have been supplied with pool towels at the hotel that you could swap over whenever you wanted for a clean one- does anyone know if this is is case in Turkey as well or will we have to bring our own towels to use by the pool?

Thanks

This very much depends on the hotel. Your facilities list (in your accommodation description) should itemise such things as towels if they are included. I stayed at a hotel in Majorca last year that provided pool (not beach) towels, and one at Lanzarote the year before that provided towels for both. Each hotel listed these provisions in their promotional material. I've got to say, I've never known towels to be provided in any of the hotels in Turkey that I have stayed in.

Still, provided or not, I personally take a couple beach towels - I use them as padding for any fragile/possibly leaky stuff that we want to take with us and don't want to tote around in our hand luggage (perfume/aftershave/bottles, toiletries etc.) They also serve a similar purpose on the return journey (by which time we usually have some kind of ceramic or other) :)

Have a great holiday.

a lot of the hotels and apartments say specifically not to take the hotel towels to the pool and that if you do you will be charged for them
so i would buy your own cause i dont think many places in icmeler supply them

Marti Resort Hotel provided Pool Towels from a stall at the pool when we stayed there AI. I think they provide them to all guests irrespective of board. I also have to say they have fantastic pools!! (one with a swim up bar)
