HULLITES OR HULLIGANS

Postby mammygazzo » 01 May 2010 12:45

Who on the forum comes from Hull or the surrounding area. The reason I ask is although we have been going to Icemeler for the last 10 years or so, we have only once or twice met people from Hull, but I have seen a few people mention Hull on this forum. It is always easy to spot someonefrom Hull when you are abroad anywhere usually because of the accent, but more often then not the HKR or Hull FC rugby shirts!

Hi mammygazzo.I'm from HULL and support Hull F.C. thats the black and whites (incase your not into rugby ).Most people ive met in icmeler don't recognise our hull accent because its so much ours alone . When out and about in icmeler a person from hull knows another hulligully as soon as hear them speak :D .and yes i often wear my rugby tops on night out .We are often given a bad name in the media ,such as the fattest ,thickest, drinkers ,smokers ,you name it they tag us with it .but anyone who's been to hull will know how warm and freindly we are :D ....just thought i'd share that with everyone ..byeeeeeee

Hi, I am also from Hull. Sorry to say but do not really care for football, or rugby either-is only a game after all but is quite nice looking at the fit guys in their shorts playing!
I am not fat, thick (don't think so anyway!) do not smoke and am a modertate drinker. As for the accent, I dont really have one and many think I am not from these parts, think it is due to the fact that being married to a foreigner when I and my family used to speak in our Hull accents he would not understand at all. On holiday in Icmeler and many other places I have often seen waiters really struggling to understand all the regional accents- must be really hard for them.

Hi "mammygazzo" we're from East Hull,(RED & WHITE) born bred and very proud of it. WE have been going to Icmeler since 1996, twice a year. Maybe you have not "heard" many people from Hulll, because we are Ullians and not Hulligans.
WE may not speak posh, we always drop our hhhhhhhh's as we prononce ULL, but we are warm friendly people.

Hi Guys,
Probably the way I worded the post, but I am from Hull. I am a red n white and am east hull born and bred as is my hubby and kids.
It just that there are so many on here from Hull, but only ever met people from hull once in Icemeler although we have been going there twice a year for about 10 years. As a few people have said our accent is one of its own, so if you hear someone you soon know they are from Hull!!
Hull is a great place, we are friendly people.

9 of us flying out on Monday so if anyone going from Hull, let us know

Hi fellow Hullites.
Im born and bred in West Hull and Black and White through and through (even after the disgusting performance against the Quins yesterday)

Ive lived amongst the red and whites in East Hull for about 25 years - they arnt a bad lot really

Discovered Icmeler for the first time last year - have to make up for lost time now !
Maureen and I are going for a week in May and hopefully sort another 2 weeks in September while we are there.

Never usually take the shirts with me, but better start if theres a fashion cult starting.

Enjoy your hols and who knows maybe meet one or two at the ICR meetngs.

I am also a Hullite, west Ull but now living in Gloucester. I agree about the people from Hull being so warm and friendly.I dont know why Hull gets so much bad pubicity i have seen much worse in other parts of the uk I still go back often to visit family, some at east Hull and some at West Hull. Will be back there in 3 weeks as my sister is over from Australia and we are having a family reunion, cant wait :) We only found Icmeler last year and are back again this year 30th July till 20th August, and i wouldnt say i'm a fat, drunkard wearing a KR t shirt..i do smoke a bit though
