50 lira note

Hi i have some pre 2009 turkish currency:50 lira.10 lira,can we still use them or do we have to change them at a bank if so can we exchange them at any bank.Hope someone can help

yeah you can still use them until 1st january 2010
after that they are no longer acceptable
i still have a lot of currency from last year that i plan to use this year
the notes dont look much different they are just smaller now

Thanks for the replys thats ok then only about 60 lira but every little helps buy a few more efes,i got a few lira today and was surprised how small they are now.i have read not to accept the older notes in change but insist on the new notes

yeah depends if you plan to use the change you get this year
if you dont then dont accept them cause they wont be of any use to next year

Cant use them any more but if you give them to me I will give you half of the value and put them in my scrap book :cry:

i got my lira when it was 2.6......and good job i saw this, it is the old notes, so i will now have to make sure i spend it all :D

is the 2009 lira ok to use for next june?? i have lira left over from may
some notes larger than others, i always get some lira to tide me over 1st day or two if i order some around feb / march time how do i know it will be the right notes??

Hi Diesel, New notes were issued this year which are slightly smaller in size to the pre-2009 notes.You were able to use both types of notes this year but in 2010 only the new ones will be in use.

This is a reminder to spend all your old style notes and don't save them for next year.
