Staying with Turkish 'friend'

05 Aug 2009 14:07

I have just come back from Icmeler and I am looking to go back to spend some time with one of the resort workers which I got to know quite well.

I would like to him to stay with me but I understand that there are some places which are not keen on this - Is there anywhere that ICR or anyone else can recommend that would be happy to have my 'friend' stay over with me and how do i go about booking it?

also , I may not be in icmeler for a whole week as I am already staying in marmaris , I am looking to pop over to Icmeler for 3 - 4 nights towards the end of August - would a booking of less than a week be a problem at this busy time?

I don't need any advice on being wary of resort workers , I am more than equipped to cope with them !!

There was a similar thread to this a while back:

This might be of some help to you.

hiya
im going to icmeler tomorrow to stay with my turkish boyfriend
i have been having the same trouble as you regarding places to stay
and your right many of the places wont allow turkish guests due to insurance or something to do with the police have to be informed if a turkish guest is staying in a hotel

but anyway we are staying at the Eda hotel which is just behind the Devamli hotel
ICR have been really helpful and they gave me all the information i needed and have made sure he can stay with me

hope this helps if you need any more information just ask :)
xxxxxx

Just one small word of warning - I know that while some places won't mind a Turkish friend staying, they may well take a different view altogether if he happens to be Kurdish, so be prepared!

Yes can be difficult, i am MARRIED to a turkish national and we have had trouble. I had to produce my marriage book, even though my passport is in my married (turkish) surname and be able to answer questions for the registration form such as his mum n dad's name, region he was born/registered in and his kimlik number. AND when he went before me they wanted more money  as he was turkish even though id already paid up front online - needless to say they didnt get any more money - but bloody cheek trying it on  !!!!

I've seen this happen in some places and as blondie says, it's a turkish/kurdish thing I think. seems a shame really as the majority of the lads who work in the bars and who make us laugh so much are kurdish.....but that's politics for you.
