I am awaiting scan results to see whether i need further back surgery (very likely), so just wondered if anyone knows if there are any restrictions re:flying and timescale. Thanks everyone in advance

Hi
I had back surgry in May and flew in Aug last year it will depend on what your having done and will be up to your consultant to say when you can fly you might also need to inform your travel insurance company if anything happens when your over there to your back they might not cover you
If your consultant says your fit to fly you may not need to inform the airline

I think it depends on the type of surgery, to be honest, My sister-in-law had to have an operation on her lung and it was quite a while before she was allowed to fly again (something to do with the pressure on the plane, if I remember rightly) but I'd imagine it would differ from one type of surgery to another. Your consultant should be able to advise you and then you can check with the airline, just to be one the safe side.
