I have a combination one on mine, and set the number somwhere in the middle so it would take someone a while to work the combination out.

I wish I had seen this a couple of weeks ago
Got to our
hotel only to find I had brought the wrong keys for locks with me

I think its an age thing.
It only took a minute for the guy to get the locks off using 2 screwdrivers and they werent even broken.

Also what I find, most suitcase locks, one key fits just about every other case.

It also how your case gets screwed by unscrupulous baggage handlers, customs also use this trick to view your case contents, lol.

last year, we had a 7 hour delay coming home........
got back to manchester to find on one case the lock had been removed and the actual lock holder on the case had been cut......

When I arrive at my
hotel in Dublin and I went to unlock the padlock it was completed bashed in, I had a bugger of a time trying to get it off... since then I haven't used a padlock, don't see the point anymore *shrugs*

nothing is safe anymore, we had combination ones and extra padlocks on just in case and last year they were just cut off and my case had been rifled through
04 Jun 2008 00:15
We put combi locks on the cases and also put cable ties on them also
04 Jun 2008 00:17

Good One fanny never thought of them they are probably better than locks.
I had to buy 2 new suitcases this year, the baggage handlers ripped mine so I bought a great one for £21 and gave it to
ICR for the orphanage, then I decided to get another one to match the new one so the old case stayed at the Tolan
04 Jun 2008 17:41
I reckon the handlers have all been watching that advert on TV - is it horlicks or ovaltine??
in the past couple of years, we've had a case damaged on every trip, so the matching thing has gone out of the window
can't take the credit for the keyring tip though, saw it on TV a couple of years ago on one of those 30second tip programmes
blimey, I sound like a proper square eyes don't I

Every time we have been our locks are missing we just thought that there get knocked off when the baggage men throw them onto the belt
But know different now
We have had quite a few things missing in the past and has always baffled me were threre could off gone my hubby always says oh i told you to check the room
Can not believe that they get away with it they make enough money from us in
Dalaman airport with food and drink with out stealing our items
If there asked for things i would give them any thing we have rather than steal them.
We are going to put all our personal items in hand luggage from now on jewelery ghd straighteners camera camcorder etc etc

Worrying yes and will not stop someone stealing from your luggage.
The only way to stop thieves stealing from you is not to put ANYTHING of value in your case
