BBM uses data, so whatever the data roaming charges are will be applied. You always have roaming charges, even if your phone is a GSM phone with a simcard, because abroad you are on other networks who charge your carrier who in turn charge you.

Yes, it will cost you. Contact your carrier to find out what the data charges are in icmeler as they might do a deal.

And it's not cheap, keep your data on and expect to pay a lot, my company bill two years ago was about £200, I now switch mobile data off and just use Wifi when available.

Depending on your provider they may do a prepaid data package for while you are away,

Hi I am going on Sunday to Icemeler and i have been advised that you can use ping chat for free not sure how true it is but i have downloaded it on my phone! Another app is viber which you are supposed to get free calls and text to others who have installed, unfortunately is not available for Blackberry yet but can be used on iphone and android phones.

How interesting! Was in Icmeler in May and returned home to a £175 bill for my Blackberry (Virgin monthly contract). What is annoying is that I called Virgin prior to leaving for Turkey and these charges were'nt mentioned, nor were they mentioned in the subsequent text I recieved from Virgin advising me of text and call charges in Turkey. Despite four phone calls to Virgin nobody was able to actually confirm how my phone bill was so high. Guess its back to the old phonecard/phonebox for me and a new supplier once my contract is up!

Best thing to do is turn off the data then when you go to a restaurant turn off your signal, so you won't get charged, and connect to the restaurants wifi as most places have it free as it allows you to use you BBM as that's what I did most of my holiday :)
