advice on sun lotion

30 Mar 2011 10:18

hi all,

going over on the 20th june for 2 weeks :D normally use spray on oil, there seems to be alot of offers on p20 and piz buin one day applications has anybody used these?

Good and bad infomation would be great.

I have fair skin which goes a darker white more than brown  , normally use factor 15 week 1 and factor 8 week 2, dont really burn.

Will be running around after our 15 month old this year so want something easy to use on me while not having to worry about re-applying lotion, as keeping our son well coated will take up most my time :D
thanks in advance...........

ps. i know this is not directly about icmeler, cheers.

Pip,
We (and wife) always use Soltan 15. It has a rating of 5 stars and in all the years we have used it we have had no problems. P20 is very good. I use it when I go of on one of my walks around Icmeler. The benefit is that it"s an all day application. Try a little patch test to ensure no reaction to it. Also it will slightly stain clothes.
With the baby, it has to be a very high factor and keep applying. Icmeler sun will catch you out else.
Dave.

Well if your on a budget asdas own brand are £2.00 and get good reviews, and my sister used this last year with no problems, also poundland did malibu sunbabe with lots of factors
I do not tan either but have used avon soft glow its a fake tan but factor 15, so i put this on in the morning when the sun is not too strong then, just use normal sunscreen after than , Ive never burnt or went streaky but i dont put it on my legs just the top half

I've used Piz Buin for the last couple of years and it's great. I'm fair skinned and usually burn but I can get a little bit of a tan with Piz Buin and I've not burned on it.

I've tried P20 but you have to apply it and let it soak in before you get dressed as it does stain clothing!!

Hope this helps :)

Normally we use Nivea Moisturising Sun Spray which we've always found excellent and soon they will be on offer in a lot of places with BOGOF, as usual. Last year though we bought Piz Buin very cheaply in Home Bargains. I found that the Piz Buin was good and smelt lovely but it didn't get absorbed as quickly into the skin as the Nivea so it took longer to put on.

Sun lotions that are reduced at the moment though are probably last year's stock, but provided the use by date is ok it shouldn't be a problem.

A high SPF number stops you from burning (UVB) but it's the star rating that gives you protection from the long term damage to your skin (UVA). Don't know if you realise but apparently it is even more important to protect against UVA if you have fair skin so if I was you I'd go for a 5*

I used Avon sun cream last year, thought I'd try it as it was on offer - 3 full size bottles for £10! It's the best suncream I've ever used, my skin seemed to stay more moisturised, didn't flake or peel at all. Will be keeping an eye out for another deal like that!
