Bikerjambos family hol

Postby bikerjambo » 15 Nov 2009 12:07

Last week in Sept, 1st week in Oct.
Started badly with a 2 hour delay in Edinburgh which meant we didn't get to the Alinda until 5 in the morning, never mind, 2 bottles of beer and down to the beach to watch the sun come up. We were adopted by 3 stray dogs and a long dead cat who followed us back to the hotel. Tricky to get in an automatic door without them. I'll come back to the hotel in a bit.
The Friday to the Monday were spent mostly in the Romeo and Juliet because of its close proximity to a phone (tricky moving hotels over a weekend).
On the Monday we got a move to the Mersoy Exclusive which we can recommend to anyone, no entertainment but really nice food and great staff. We were in plenty bars over the fortnight as our 9 year old daughters karaoke skills run to about 5 songs so we had to move her around them so she didn't keep repeating herself. Best run of the mill bar we found was the Istanbul, really nice staff tho the patter was naff!
We spent a few days in Turunc because we like the little beach by the harbour and other things we did were parasailing, Lazy Days boat and hired a boat for the day.
All in all a good holiday with not a drop of rain and employment permitting we'll be back nect year!

The Alinda, if ICR use this hotel its time to send someone round unannounced to see how bad it really is! The 1st morning we went for breakfast the tables were still dirty from the night before and there was no bread to be had(at 7.30). Lunch (which other guests told us was the best meal) consisted of cold chips and cold chicken nuggets. Dinner was cold chicken and chips with a choice of cold pasta and boiled cucumber (what the chef told us it was), we took our lead from other Brit guests and went out.
We did complain to the manager who told us to find another hotel if we didn't like it.
The room was grubby at best and the bath/shower tub had been gloss painted which meant you trailed white paint around when you got out it.
The bar area was small, which we knew before we went, but its a bit much being expected to sit on a sun lounger whilst the bar staff keep all the empty tables for dining Polish guests by putting glasses of water down. It was a relief to get a move. AI? This hotel is NOT fit for purpose!

We did enjoy ourselves tho, had been looking forward to it for too long to let an iffy hotel put too much of a dampner on it.
