Flights on time, hotel transferred us Dalaman to Icmeler and we arrived at the hotel around midnight. Headed straight to the bar for a couple of drinks and a blether to all our friends at Golmar Beach Hotel.
Had great plans to do lots of things on this holiday, but as usual ended up not doing very much at all. Done a boat trip round the bays and spent a day in Turunc, a lovely place but I think its a bit quiet for us to spend a week or two there.
The weather was great, around 35 degrees during the day, 25-26 at night, only rained once during the night.
Ate at some lovely restaurants, some new to us:
Travellers Rest - fantastic fish and chips
Majestic - Chinese and sizzlers to die for (went there twice)
Champagne (went there twice too)
Amigos
Mandalin
Golden Moon
Valentinos
and some more that I can't remember, but still never had a bad meal yet. The only complaint (and it is a small one) was that the Mandalin served mashed potatoes with chicken tikka masala - not a very nice combination!
Had intended to go to Vinces on 25th September but I had a stomach upset for a couple of days and didn't really feel up to going. Was supposed to see Lynnjenny there but she wasn't able to go either, she came along to our hotel next day and we had a couple (or three) beers and a good chat - sure she only came to seek out the tablet though!!
I wasn't going to the Vince's on 2nd October as we had other arrangements for that night, but was supposed to be
meeting Mary (Reesy1959) there on 9th October. However, she texted me to say that her apartment owners had delayed their normal Thursday night BBQ / Turkish Night to the Friday so that her and Phil could attend - she felt she couldn't let them down - however she asked if we could meet them for a drink on Friday afternoon. We went along to Havana Bar to meet them and they were with Colette and Wendy. What an afternoon it was - fantastic! It was really nice to meet Wendy and Colette and I think its fair to say we all had a really good time, the vodka and beer just flowed! Zaza was his usual funny self and kept things going. I have some photos which I will post soon (not saying when)! We got back to our hotel from our afternoon session at 6.45, we ate at the hotel then went to bed as we were going home the next day.
Transfer back to Dalaman was very subdued as usual. Bought a small bottle of water to drink with our hotel-made
sandwiches, it cost 4.60TL approx £2, absolutely scandalous
. Nice, smooth flight home arriving around 12.30am,so it was around 2am when we got home and then it was straight to bed.Roll on next June!!
