Back home again

Well here we are back home again, and apart from a problem with a jeweller we had a fantastic holiday, so starting from the beginning.

Saturday 19th Sept, so excited we could not sleep that night, 6 am Sunday the taxi arrived to take us to Glasgow Airport for our 10 am flight, arrive at airport at 6.30 am to find the check-in was already opened, 5 minutes later we were outside having a fag or 6. Flight was 10 minutes late taking off but who cares we were on our way home again, had agood flight and landed on time at Dalaman, in all it was about 20 minutes before we were outside having a fag, ICR transfer was waiting for us and we were away to Icmeler, arrived at Efes Inn 90 minutes later, was received by reception like old friends, got to room and took our first look at the bay, lovely to be home again but having had no sleep since Saturday morning we were knackered, so sent down for a meal which arrived piping hot, sat on the balcony to eat it then went to bed.

We had a great time going round to see old friends in Icmeler, everyone greeted us like old friends, you don't get that anywhere else, visited quite a few different restautants during the 2 weeks we were there but most of our evening meals were in Vince's, the Bonjour and the Majestic, we did have one meal in Jimmy Okimo's retsaurant which was very good, we will be going there again in May 2010. We found that prices were a little bit up but still very reasonable compared to the UK but the quality was far superior to UK restaurants.

No problems with hassle anywhere in Icmeler, mind you we missed it at times, it is part of the Turkish culture and should be allowed in moderation. We notice quite a few places were not open but most restaurants and bars were busy.

Purchase to usual things, shoes, shirts, tea towels and bags, my wife, Margo, bought me a gold chain, she said it was for my 70th birthday in Jan 2010 and every christmas and birthday thereafter, must have cost a fortune.

As stated before we had a great time as always, and when it was time to leave we got very upset, ICR traansfer was on time for the return to Dalaman, check in and supprised that for the first time we were under weight with our luggage, mind you we threw our a lot of my old sharts and left a bag full of clothes at the Efes Inn for mext time.

Flight home was on time and a good flight, most of the passengers were asleep during the flight, including Margo, our luggage was amongst the first to come through and we were outside having a fag in no time, would like to say a special thank you to the wheelchair lady who met us at the plane in Glasgow, such a lovely lady, she took us to the taxi rank and made sure my wife was settled before she left us.

Looking forward to May 2010 when we return again to Icmeler to see all our friends again.
