Flew out of Gatwick on time with Turquaz Airlines. Nice plane with reasonable legroom. Thought I would celebrate the start of the holiday with a glass or two of plonk untill I saw the price 8 euros for a dribble size bottle!!! A chocolate bar was 4 euros and a small can of Turkish amber nectar was 4 euros.
Landed on time sneaked past the swine flu camera with a smile and on to passport and visa control, no problems.
Whilst waiting for our cases heard that the airport 'staff' were charging £5 per trolley - luckly our suitcases have wheels.
Out to our own cab and onto Icmeler arrived at 0530 just as the sun came up. Was met at out apartments by the owner and slept until about 1130.
Out and about in the 1st week went to the Bamboo - rubbish meal, out as soon as the 'entertainment' started never went back.
Ate at the Kerem, what can I say, we sat on the balcony watching the world go by eating the best Turkish food ever.
Used the Florida quite a few times -food was good and reasonably priced.
Finished a few evenings in The Magic Garden still as good as ever for a wind down.
Brought loads of chicken kebabs from just along from the Florida - even the children liked them
For the first time we brought lamb chops from the local butcher - superb taste and VERY cheap.
Hired a boat for the 4 of us £165 for the day was a bit expensive but worth it. We used the same guy from 2 years ago.
Went to Knidos to see the ruins (it has taken 5 years to do this) taxi was £60 for the 5 of us (we took the apartment owners daughter). The road trip was a bit hairy in places and took 2.5 hours. The ruins have been left as they fell but with a bit of poking about we discovered a fantastic mosaic (in Church E closest to the sea). There is a fantastic giant sundial that still works - despite many earthquakes. This a great place to visit if you can, there is lots to see and it waqs only 8TL to get in with children under 17 going free. Had some amazing meze in the only resteraunt there it was expensive but sooo worth it.
Spotted a few Russians drunk at the time. Icmeler seemed quite quiet apart from the 'english end' where we had to shout at each other just to hear and we were just passing the boom boom bars!!!!
A little bit more expensive but all in all a reasonable holiday.
Got some sarnies made up before we went to the airport with a few bottles of water - glad we did having looked at the prices.
A few numpties on the flight - those who can't read the seatbelt signs and wander around despite being told to sit down. A person who as soon as the plane took off reclined her seat back , then put their feet up just to squash those behind them!!!!!
Landed at Gatwick on time - back to reality
Will probably go back to Turkey again but might go back to Turgutries - the 1st place we visited back in 1994
