our holiday............

arrived dalaman after a faultless flight and check in from donny airport.......half an hour got us through dalaman and we were out to find our icr transfer waiting for us!
DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT BUYING ANYTHING FROM THE CAFE OUTSIDE THE AIRPORT!!!
we were dying of thirst..wife went to buy two small waters there.......they wanted nine quid!!!!
the driver muttered somthing in turkish and we got the impression he was not pleased with them........only to be backed up when we left dalaman....called into the nearest place open and he bought us three big bottles of ice cold water and wouldnt take a penny off us.
great transfer both ways............thanks to all at icr!!!!
first few days were a worry..........we had cory with us for the first time........he took two or three days to settle and i honestly thought we would be heading home early as it upset joanne that much....but true to form he bounced back after three days and soon had the waiters and all and sundry running about and eating out of his hand.....lol
all told though............a brilliant holiday.............we met donna at icr office.........who told us that because we are pretty sure that cory was concived on a previous trip to iclemer..he was known as a "balcony baby"..........lol..........shes a nutter and great fun...........and found it highly amusing that a few days later the wife was refused admission to the bank because she didnt have a shirt on!
ate well in all places we visited............we had said we were going to try different places each night to eat...........lasted till our third night when the combo fahitas at chef and the frendliness of the staff towards cory swung us in their direction again.
florida bar also had return visits......for snacks of their california club sandwiches
harrys steakhouse also got about 4 visits...............try their harrys breakfasts..............its a double english breakfast and well worth the 9 lira!
prices had risen...............but not a patch on england............clothing more expensive...............cheaper here for most items.............beer was 1.75 lira to 5 lira depending where you were and the exchange rate.........well...local supermarkets were giving 2.17 as we left..........much better than the 2.06 offered at most appartments!
one niggle..............the hook men for the jewlers...........the guys who get you in.....are using devious methods to get you through the doors...............one even walked us three blocks to get to the shop..we thought the guy was the owner of the supermarket he was stood outside of.....
we were left with a guy who.although we told him we were not interested in buying.......procedded to launch into the sales pitch..........after half an hour of sitting politly and listening to him..we still kept telling him that yes.his prices were reasonable but we were not there this year to buy jewelry...he continued to try to persuade us.....
at this point i gave up..........just left him to it and sat back with the cold beer he had provided.
after the item he had designed for us had been priced at 1000 lira.we again said that yeah..good price.but we were not buying jewelry......he started to slash the price to force a sale.......1000.........850...........600...........500.........then.........ok......200 pounds!
again.........we stated no interest..........at which time he stood up..became rather rude and stated that if tourists couldnt afford 200 quid the buissness may as well be dead!
we were shocked that after repeatedly telling him that we were not buying he would get the huff like this........
we did buya ring from another jewler...........the price was to good to miss..........but if the first guy hadnt been so oafish we may have returned.....first time we have witness this and i hope it dont set a trend...
