Mirage World - 20th Sept to 4th October

Spoilt by having to compare this hotel with the Aqua from previous years.

The extra charges for the Aqua over two weeks are now proven to be worthwhile.

This hotel needs to get its' act together to be Anglo friendly!

Little hidden extras that the Mirage World did not have as part of the all inclusive deal - one bottle of water per person every other day.
Nothing else included for the fridge. No tea or coffee making equipment in the room.
Poor standard beds on creaky bases, but clean sheets throughout stay.
Clean, functional bathroom, had to shower reasonably early to retain hot water.

Restaurant - a BIG letdown !

Dirty cups, no cutlery / plates / glasses at most mealtimes, ran out of cereals in the 2nd week, hot food mostly wasn't, sadly! But, .... the home made pizzas were to die for, one lot of cracking food made fresh every night!

Drinks machines both hot and cold were often hit and miss, no flavouring, missing ingredients for coffee, machines incorrectly filled, so latte was hot chocolate - loads of half empty cups having to be discarded each night. These aren't what you pay an A1 price for!

Hotel facilities - fitness suite . sauna, Turkish bath etc - so good we went twice during the stay!

Barber - excellent service for haircut and shave!

Pool, clean, no problem with sunbeds, mattresses for sunbeds clean - pool attendant top notch, always friendly and hardworking!

90 % Dutch in the hotel, so all entertainment was geared for them, not a problem, we went out most nights, but it meant not taking advantage of the all inclusive drinks sometimes.

Downstairs bar closed at 10 pm, and all of the upstairs bar area was filled with Dutch who dominated the seating and kept all comers away from the bar.

The Mirage bar at the front is not part of the hotel, so immediate drinks charges to get their free wi-fi - hotel's wi-fi was 20 liras, per person's device, not per room, per day !!

Plans are up to show building works and renovations for 2014 - definitely needed, as the seating in most areas needs to be made more comfortable for guests.

We met other holidaying friends out of the hotel, and in general had a reasonable holiday, because we do !

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We also took some time out, and popped in to see Elaine @ ICR, and enquired about prices back at the Aqua for next year's holiday - it looks very favourable with transfer prices etc - just need to wait for new season flight prices.

Icmeler itself does not disappoint, as ever ! - friendly people all over the resort, and even the storm we had earlier this week only made it easier to wander to new bars during the day and make new Icmeler friends - please have a walk towards Marmaris and drop into the Cafe Delmar on the corner where the helipad is located - great coffee, made fresh each time, and a gorgeous view over the bay.

Find of the trip ! lovely laid back jazz / funk music at restful volume !
