Better late than never, I suppose. We were due to fly from Newcastle at 9.30am but due to a mechanical fault with the plane, we had a 6 hour delay but better be safe than sorry. We did receive a £3 voucher from Jet 2 and then a soft drink or a hot drink aboard the plane. We arrived at the Selen 2 Hotel and were greeted by some of the staff who were there on previous years. We unpacked and went to bed. We then started our relaxation on Saturday and headed to the beach as we did every day of our stay. The weather was very hot with temperatures 30 deg. at 8.30am but it was lovely to feel that sunshine after our disastrous weather back in the UK. The hotel was lovely and we had a couple of very nice evening meals there. We ate mainly at Jimmy Okimos but also visited Sidiks, Erdem, Harry Rams which were all very nice. We didn't venture very far but enjoyed the total relaxing experience. The square is fabulous and with the restaurants around ie Bonjour, Lighthouse etc looks just wonderful. Saturday evening in the square was enjoyable when the locals had stalls selling craft, mainly jewellery, which was very reasonable and also couldn't resist buying some, which has been admired since I came home. We enjoyed the usual drinks in Tin Tins, Magic Garden, Buffalo (although it was very hot with the doors closed after 12 midnight) and overall, had no complaints about our holiday at all. The underground market is much better now it has been spruced up but there didn't seem to be many visitors! The stalls on the canal - well, they don't in my opinion do anything for the canal but it looks better than last year. It was all too soon and we were heading back to the UK. Our flight arrived in Newcastle 15 minutes early. We were lucky to have missed the monsoon type weather they experienced the day before when public transport was brought to a standstill and the 30 minute journey from Newcastle took 4/5 hours! Well, September can't come quick enough for our return to Icmeler and to once again re-charge our batteries. :) :)
