19th June-26th June Marmaris

Onur flight left Edinburgh 20 min late but made up the time on the way over and arrived on time. Transfer was waiting but sat for an hour counting and recounting everyone, taking names and checking what hotels we were going to whilst they sold more and more water in the sweltering heat, hmmmm!
Got to the Sun Aparts in Marmaris about 6pm and got settled in before having dinner and several Efes. The only reason we were in Marmaris was because we took my 85 year old dad with us and the Sun Aparts had 2 bedroom aparts at a very good price.
This was an extra hol for us and meant to be very low-key so Monday was spent lazing at the pool before heading along to Icmeler for the night, visited the good folks at the Gondol before dropping off madras powder at the Tandoori, into Buffalos to let daughter sing a few songs before ending the night in the Istanbul where they refused to let us get the dolmus back and sent us in a car. Only problem was we didn't know where the aparts were apart from they were near the number 2 dolmus route and near the Kipa supermarket, once we located the Kipa it didn't take too long before we were home. A1 service from Baran and the lads, thanks.
Tuesday we decided to go to what we call Squirrel beach which is no more than a small shack a little past Nirvana beach on the Icmeler-Marmaris walk. So, dolmus along to Icmeler a walk along in 40 odd degree heat only to discover that the Marmaris Park seems to have taken over the land and shut the shack down! For some unknown reason we decided to keep walking to Marmaris in the heat, never again at that time of day! We just spent the night in bars around the hotel just to remind ourselves why we normally go to Icmeler. It worked, Marmaris is too big, brash and the hassle is so much worse. The antics we seen the the Green Park barr were enough to have us walking out after only one drink.
Wednesday was another lazy day at the pool before heading along to Icmeler (can you see a pattern developing here?) and having a great meal in the Tandoori, Indian for me and Chinese for the other 3. It was funny to see the bemused looks on the faces of the other diners as our bill was called for (bill for bikerjambo with ICR discount) as they tried to figure out why we were getting a discount!
Thursday and Friday were spent around the pool with Thusday night at the hotel bar and Friday night at the Aussie bar near the Taj Mahal where I did my good deed for the holiday by helping to save a kitten from one of the drainage ditches on the way back up.
Saturday was spent at the beach in Icmeler before going to the pool at the Gondol before having a kebab at the little place round the corner from Buffalos before going round to say all our goodbyes and heading back to Marmaris to pack.
Transfer was on time at 1am as was the flight and before long we were back in Edinburgh.

Roll on September, and back to Icmeler!
