After an ash cloud closed Manchester on Sunday 16th, we where relieved to take off at 12.20 pm on Monday 17th. We landed at Dalaman at 6.15 pm local. Thumbs up to Pegasus.
Our ICR got us to Icmeler in good time, the view as you enter the bay was worth the wait !
We where greeted by Vince and his team, in our room and sorted by 9.00 pm. A few Effes and a snack signaled the end of a long day as we where up before 5.00 am UK.
The weather during the week was a bit inconsistant some hot days, some cloudy and one day of rain. Not complaining though it was warm whatever.
It was intended to be a chill out week, we did take the water taxi to Torunc spending a pleasant first visit there strolling around, lunching and again returning to Icmeler by water taxi ( what a super way to travel )
We think Icmeler looks better than our visit last September, the paved area by the square is excellent and the front has been improved by pushing the cafes back a bit.
Generally there seemed to be less hassle this time, although I dont think the Trip people and the Hairdressers have quite got the message yet.
Each day started with me wandering off to the bakery next to the Tansas, for the fresh and stll warm stuff - sheer magic !
Had some great meals out, Vinces food was excellent as always ( a chicken sizzler one night and a steak dianne on another where both superb), also The Tandoori Sizzler was great, the 20 YTL menu at the Kingsland Chinese was tasty and very good value, a special mention for the fish n chips at Friar Tucks too. They all added to a super holiday.
The Travellers Rest, however, was a big dissappointment and we wont go there again ( see separate post under the Guestbook thread for further details)
We met Jeanette & family n the transfer in and George & Margot who where well happy in the Honeymoon Suite at the Chateau De Ville after transferring from the Effes Hotel. We also had several Effes with John and his family in Zazas on the Wednesday night.
It was our intention to try and book a holiday while we where there - and we did it !!!
The Chateau De VIlle is super and they where only too pleased to show us round so thats our home for two weeks in early September2010.
Vince and everyone at the Demircioglu really looked after us , and thanks to John, Sharon & michelle at ICR for their help. we intend to be a bit more energetic when we return and get some trips booked in advance.
The exchange rate averaged around 2.20, hopefully that will improve during he summer.
An uneventfull flight back on the 24th saw us land at 11.10 uk at Manchester. Many thanks again Pegasus.
Icmeler certainly didnt disappoint once again - so roll on September - we will be back !!!
Pete and Maureen.
