Prestij apartments

Postby Keith » 25 Aug 2009 16:13

Left Newcastle at 7.30 pm with Onurair and flight only took 4 hours this year. Seats ok with decent leg room even for me! No meals on plane but girls up and down with nibbles and drinks.Had to fill out health check forms before touch down which passed the time away. Loads of folk missing visa control out and going to passport, but all getting sent back. Smiled for thermal bodyscanner but nobody there, so dont know if it it was working.
Had sorted own accomadation and transfers so picked cases up and headed out. There must be a lot of folk doing this now as there were dozens of taxi drivers holding boards with names. Spotted our man who helped with cases and lead us to taxi. There were only three of us this year so small cab with leather seats and air con, water, music and good crack with driver. Arrived at apartments and Engin greeted us with the usual Icmeler welcome and helped with cases to the room. Mandy sorted cases while me and George went to supermarket for supplies. The guy in there remembered us from last year and said to just pay later when we get ourselves sorted. I have lived in the same village for the past 34 years and i cannot even imagine our shop keepers saying those words to me.
Headed downstairs on first morning to be greeted by staff who all hugged and kissed us as though we were long lost relatives. A couple of changes in staff, but rooms and facilities still as good as ever. Stairs were supposed to being altered for this year but has not happened, so just tread carefully!!
Mandys sister was also in Icmeler with her daughter staying at Selen 2 so had a walk out to see them.
Couldnt get passed Deja Vu without being spotted so had a meet and greet in there for a couple of hours.
Had three of four meals in here all excellent. Also Carl and Suzie and family arrived a couple of days after us so cracking getting better day by day. Had a night in Dream Boys food and entertainment very good and also very busy.
Went to Vinces and Champagne bar and had two good evenings just on the drink.
Had two meals at the Venice. What can i say, only that this was the busiest spot in icmeler and the food and entertainment were first class. Also thanks to Mustafa who had his work cut out looking after us all night.
Had a meal at Masalla which was just the same as last year excellent Tried my first fried ice cream enjoyed it but couldnt move for an hour afterwards. Saw Eric the Viking and family walk passed. We had a good meal in the Buffalo but very quiet. Sugar doing his best to get folk in but just wasnt happening.
Thought we would try closer to apartments and had a night at Ozzys. Nice guy and kept us entertained with party tricks which pleased George.
Could go on for ever but still think this has to be one of the best resorts in the world. Money was going further this year cos only getting 2 tl to the pound last year.First visit was in 1988, yes the resort has changed but i still think the warmth and friendliness of the Turkish people is second to none and i am am sure it is genuine. We will be back next year.
