Hi all, Just back from a wonderful fortnight in paradise. Hope you're all ready for my review. Here goes...
Arrived at Dalaman Airport on time and private transfer was waiting for us. Approx 90 mins later we were in Icmeler (about 2.15am). Bit of a mix up with accommodation but we were given a two bedroom private apartment overlooking the market, immediately next door to Woodlands Apartment (which by the way was 'tourist free' this year for some reason). We didn't have a pool but were able to use pool at Sun Apartments which was about 3 mins. walk from us. Owners were very friendly and made us feel very welcome.
Ate at the following: Kardelen, Champagne, Venice, Wayside, Kingsland, Kerem, Red Lion, Captain Bullsh!ts, Cafe Erdem, Taj Mahal, Deja Vu to name but a few. Had a great night in Deja Vu - saw the one and only Redrhino. Had a brief chat with Gene on our last day - he took great pleasure in reminding me he still had 10 days left before he came back to England!
Temperatures were extremely high, even the locals were finding it hard to cope with the heat.
Went for a walk along the beach to Marmaris - did it in one hour - set off at 7.45am before it got too hot.
Went for a Turkish bath and did the jeep safari. Heard about the unfortunate deaths on the jeep safari the following day. We found that the drivers on our jeep safari were quite safe. They went through the full dos and don'ts before setting off stressing to people not to use sea water and the dangers of this but yo know how it is - there's always one smart alec. This idiot through a full 5lt bottle of sea water over my other half who immediately had to rush to a shower on the beach because his skin began to sting and there was sea water in his eyes. Obviously the lad got an ear bashing both from me and the driver.
Anyway, soon it was time to come home. Transfer was on time and we arrived back in Manchester on Saturday morning.
The washings all done and dusted (it helped because there was a washing machine at the apartment). Only thing now is getting ready for work tomorrow
Will post photos at the weekend when I have more time.
To all those who are going soon, please take plenty of sun protection and look after little ones between 11.00 and 3.00pm.
Sue
