Icmeler Online Holiday Forum & Reviews - Turkey

Hi all, I am a newbie to posting myself but have been reading all the posts since first visiting Icmeler 3 years ago. I have booked to go again on 18th September for 2 weeks......seems like forever to wait , and will be staying at the Babadan apartments.

Would like to try a couple of trips this year and Pamukkale looks like a beautiful place. Has anybody been there? What's it like? Is it very far from Icmeler (bit nervous travelling on the turkish roads!).

I know you all have a wealth of knowledge on this forum so would appreciate your help

I visited Pamukalle about 10 years ago and thought the pools and calcified waterfalls were purely magical.
You could paddle through the water and pools although some areas were quite slippy so a little caution reccomended
There were areas which were drying out and looked grey due to the local hotels diverting the calcareous waters into their swimming pools.
Due to the damage being caused the local council had the Hotels knocked down a few years ago and again the water flows over the travetines and pools.
I have heard that the Cotton Castles are now back to something like their former glory.
While at the Castles visit Cleopatras pool were you can swim among submerged Grecian columns (a charge is made),or visit Hierepolis the stunning remains of a Roman City with over 1200 tombs.
This trip can be booked as a two day one night (staying in an Hotel overnight) also visiting the ruins of Ephesus,this is also a fantastic site.
The two day visit cost £43.
Ephesus on its own 1 day £28.
Pamukkale (Cotton Castles) 1 day £17.

Both these trips can be booked through Icmeleronline either from home or in resort.

Is it worth a visit?......In my opinion Yes

ps. the one day trip tp Pamukkale is something like a 7am pick up and 8-30 pm drop off back in resort,(these times may vary just explaining its a long day)
Dont be concerned about the road system in Turkey to me its excellent.

We are going to Pamukale in May hopefully if i can get up that early to go, I have been meaning to go for 7 years so I I am determined to go this year, I will let you know what it is like

i was there at christmas and would reccommend going
its much bigger than i imagined and when we arrived on christmas night it was floodlit
we climbed up it on boxing day and its very pretty but because it was cold i kept thinking it was ice and not calcified water
at the top as gene said there is a hot water outdoor swiming pool and the ruins of hierappolis is also very large

Gene thanks for letting me know it's a long day. There are 3 of us that go on hols together and I am the youngest at a spritely 36 so not sure my mom would cope with being out all day in the heat as well as travelling (sorry mom....not trying to say you are past it!)

It is my mission this holiday to get up early and do this trip I am going to do it at the beginning of my holiday as on the second week i become lazy.

What days do ICR do the Pamukale trip?

Been looking forward to this trip for years

Instead of getting up early and rushing things why don't you take the 2 day trip which lets you experience Efes (the place not the beer) and Pamukkale.

we did think about that but they both still go at the same time in the morning plus we have already been to Efes and we did not want to be a way from Icmeler to long as we have loads of other plans when we get there. We are in for an action packed holiday I will have to ask Hubby as he cant bear to leave Icmeler for too long

Here you go hun. Some pics of Pammukale, going, and when we got there. The pool is Cleopatras pool and the tombs are lovely to see. I would not go again im afraid due the very long journey. 2 day visit, yes but you are not told that no water runs there anymore.

my wife and i are thinking about doing the 2 day efeseus and pamkali trip wiith ICR (sorry not spelt right) anyone know what time the pickup is at the start of the trip in icmeler

great photos more determined to get up early and go, I think it is a 6.30 am start, would do the 2 day trip dont think i could fit it in with everything else, 2 weeks is just not enough

please be careful who you book with, we went with the guys hal way down the canal below dream boys and the whole thing was a farce. the trip was on an old bus that never went over 30mph. when we got to pamukkale the museum was shut for lunch and after a 5 hour trip home we had to stop where we were hassled into buying carpets.
