New statues in the square

Postby ScouseFitz » 09 Apr 2013 17:11

Well, I'm unlucky enough to have just seen a pic on an Icmeler page on facebook, of the new statues (and I use the word statues loosely)!! Awful, ugly and tacky things, that look like they should have a slot in the top to collect money for disabled children/guide dogs!! It's a shame, the square improvements last year were great and a real improvement. Now these things have been added, I'm afraid the word Blackpool comes to mind!! Horrible, horrible, horrible!

Anyone else seen them?

Yes I've seen them and I agree. They look totally out of place.

I remember someone commenting on them earlier and liking them to something out of Disney land.

I saw em on a fb group called Paul's Icmeler Lovers, run by a guy called Paul Kear. Tacky is the word. Cheap is another, so is nasty.

Hi JT

Apologies for the link I posted
It has been removed and a superb facebook link in its place.
Just thought I was helping with the enquiries :?

Agree with most, the dolphin's aren't too bad but the others do look a bit tacky. Might seem better in the flesh (so to speak).

Either way, it won't ruin my holiday - Where we stay is nowhere near the square so probably won't see them that much anyway.

Hi Mupton

Yes it was removed by someone and no doubt to do with the wishes of the original poster as it seems that they were not meant for here

I think though you will find all you need on that facebook page and as it happens with unbiased comments and remarks as Paul praises all of Icmeler

How come everyone compares Blackpool with the word tacky? ?? its the people who visit Blackpool that make it seem tacky, the ones who come for stag and hen parties, get steaming and throw up everywhere and make complete fools of themselves, I've lived in Blackpool all my life and wouldnt live anywhere else.

Not" my cup of tea" and a bit scary -if you ask me!
But it won't put me off from the square area.

It's something to do with Turkish folklore from what I've heard, these statues are meant to represent them or something like that :?: :?
