Grotesque! They belong in a play park or something like that. I'm all for folklore and tradition, but the square just isn't the place for those. :(

Absolutely abysmal! No offence to what they may represent but they look like a child has made them. They make a nice beautiful relaxing square look like blackpool pleasure beach. One looks like a policeman directing traffic!

They need taking down and no more putting up anywhere else.

Maybe they could be somewhere for the local dogs to urinate on ha ha

Does it really matter that much? I agree they're not that good but it could be a lot worse. The dolphins look ok though, I'll see if I can find a piccy...

Nicked these from another forum, taken by Peli - I don't think he'd mind...

EDIT:

Justin

If the person that posted the photo's elsewhere wanted them to be shown on this forum then he would have done so himself so lets leave it like that

They become the property of the forum they were posted on so in theory you cannot just take things from other places

I was told by an old "Turk" once

"never judge another culture, by your own standards"

I have never forgotten that.....try it, it works!

OK John, I get that, fair point!

One question though - does Peli still frequent this forum?

When you look at the statues in Marmaris around the fountains and harbour,it makes you wonder who got it right, and i dont think it was Icmeler.

The statues have now been painted all one colour so they dont look as bad.Think they were multi coloured until after the childrens festival. The dolphins in the fountains are lovely. Paradise is still the same even with the new additions.
