Exchange rate

Postby barnie » 03 Mar 2012 14:58

As we know a better rate can be got in bars/supermarkets, but by showing what is on offer at change office you can follow the general trend in resort. Will update this every week or so.

Todays rate is 2.7507 at travelfx.co.uk, excellent and I don't think you'll get a better rate than that. The only 'problem' with this company is you need to do a bank transfer as they don't accept card payments, however if you do online banking then this is very straightforward.

Re travelfx.co.uk: You have no protection if after you transfer money they then go bust. Many people lost money when this happened with Crown currency.

I seems to be dropping a bit in the UK at the moment :(

Exchange rate is very good but how does it compare with what you get for your lire? How much would a simple evening meal with bread, main course and dessert cost in a average restaurant please - without drinks?

Thanks for any replies - love the photos especially when here in South Yorkshire it is bucketing down :(

I suppose it all depends on what you class as a simple meal in an average restaurant

You could have chicken shish every night for probably 15 lira and some people probably do but then a lot of people I know of save to come on holiday to eat at different places that are notable for say their T bone steaks or maybe Chateaubriand and of course these then will vary in price from place to place and also quality

You may see steak meals advertised a lot cheaper at certain places but what quality is it compared to places that are a lot more expensive

Personally I enjoy a quality steak but I could not and would not do it every night away as I would not at home

Hi there. Take some Lira with you to get you started then take Sterling.(£10 notes) as you will prob get a better rate when you get there. I managed to get 2.77 to the £ in Debenhams but that was a few weeks ago now.I think the rate is over 2.80 in Icmeler. Enjoy your holiday.Im back at my second home 3 weeks today!!! :D :D :D

I buy bags over there all the time. Very good quality leather fakes. Go to the wed market in Icmeler and haggle. I have a good friend who has a stall there. Sis bought a beautiful Louis Veton bag last year. Multi coloured Think it was only about £25 but its big and roomy. Also have good quality Purses for pressies to take home in all the little bag shops who also sell loads of nice bags. :D :D :D
