Canal Shops - Taking Shape

Postby Kalof » 13 Feb 2012 10:00

Taken today (13.02.12) Canal Shops on the site of the Bamboo Restaurant at the bottom of the canal. Looks like there will be 2 or 3 rows of shops (in a horseshoe shape) facing the beach. All concrete bases are laid and work now being done on metal supports for each unit.

Interesting - thanks for posting those, Chris. Always interesting to see the changes which take place in Icmeler over the winter months. Think the Bamboo will be missed though.

Pleased to see the stalls going back on the canal but hope they are going to do some thing with the walk down to them as when we were there last year it did not apeal to me to walk down there on a night as it was a bit dark & scary. Thanks for the pictures & keeping us up dated its great to see work progressing. :)

Thanks for your update; it looks quite interesting and hope the stalls are all occupied on their completion. Hope the original sites are cleaned up and perhaps some seating could be provided. It will be interesting to see the canal after the alterations. Hope it all works out for the good. :D :D

So pleased the canal stalls are coming back as we missed them last year. We can't wait until we are in lovely Icmeler in July to start spending :D

Looking forward to evening stroll down by the canal again. Wasn't the same without the shops. Nice seating area would be ideal as well. Can't believe how things change so quickly in Scotland it would take forever. Roll on August. 8)
