Last sept a member of our party of 3 couples Big Al went up the flag starting off before it had even come light ,he claimed it was fairly easy the main problem was seeing his way and being scraped by the rough undergrowth .And big Al is far from fit, heading for 60 and a good 17 stone .

We could see the flag clearly from where we stayed in June and I did think about climbing up to it, but never did get around to it.

Must try and talk Phill into doing it this October. Wish me luck

I'm looking right at it now and I have no inclination whatsoever to get any closer to it unless it is with a zoom lens.

I also know what creatures live in the rough on that hill

woke up early on sat 8th august, left wife and kids in bed and decided to walk up to the flag. took about 45mins from our apartment near 'florida' bar. Views are fantastic and its really worth the climb. Quite easy apart from the last 100m climb which is rocky and has rough under growth (best wear trainers and NOT sandals!). Got to the top and there was a man and two teenage lads which i know now was 'shuggy bear' - nice to see you.
The only down side was when i returned my teenage son pestered me to take him up to the flag, we did this late on sunday night (this time wearing trainers) just as the sun was setting - i found it much better than in the morning as the temperature was cooler although it was getting a bit eerie going down as darkness quickly approached !

I would definately reccomend anyone to do it.

wed 2 sept, set off after brekkie from bonjour, called in at the tansas and got bottled up with water, found entrance ok walked to the top of road throug gate fenched area 1st mistake.started walking back down the road noticed pathway on my right.started to climbing came to two pathways decided to take the right hand side one 2nd mistake carried on walking for about half an hour kept saying to myself they must be a turning on the left soon as i was above the flag to my left.climb a bit higher then decided to make my own pathway 3rd mistake got to the top and made my way down from the back of the flag.as you can imagine i got a few cuts and bruises for my troubles but well worth the view(will post photo's later)after about half an hour made my descent the easyway down.when i reached the roadway a man and (son i think) where coming up,needless to say i told him to take the left hand path. got back to hotel and i was in the juccuzi for a hour
