Yes its a very nice walk, it takes between 1.5/2.0 hours gentle stroll depending on where you are in
marmaris also time it so that your not walking in the dark its not lit very well in places, we used to time so that we got to the cafe del mar just as it was getting dark and if your there at the right time of the month you can watch the moon rising between the islands, its my favourite chill out bar, another 15 mins walk and your in the middle of the action in Icmeler.

Is there a Coastal Path or do you follow the road. I would love to try this but afraid I'd end up following the dirty dusty road !!!

				Thanks Diane
So if I just follow the path, up the hill out of
Icmeler and keep going, will that path take me all the way to
Marmaris ? We are going back in October and everytime we've been to Icmeler we've promised ourselves we'll do it but never got round to it !!!! This will be our 12th visit and if we don't do it this time we never will. So hopefully

Dont make the mistake a lot of people do when they walk to marmaris, when they reach long beach they think this is
marmaris proper dont like it and turn round and come back, where the
hotel and bars start you need to walk another 3k till you reach the Attaturk statue, this is more or less the centre of things in Marmaris, there is a massive bazaar across the road,it is also the start of the Marina and the castle and bar street is just across the road as well.

				Thank You
Well, this time we will definately be doing it... It's been a challenge everytime we've visited ! (sounds like a parachute jump challnege or something similar doesn't it !) and we've always 'bottled it' or it's been too hot. Hopefully it should be a lot cooler at the beginning of October.
So thanks again for your advise.

				Ooooh we've done the
Marmaris to
Icmeler walk, took a while but was worth it for all the scenery. Took some fantastic pictures along the way, unfortunatly I transfered all the pics to my pc thinking they were safe and my computer broke before I had the chance to print them or make a back up cd of the pics

				WE'VE DONE IT !!!
At last we've done it ( we did cheat slightly and hired push bikes ) but what a great day. Loads to see, had a good look around the marina. stopped for lunch, had a look round the back streets of
Marmaris and then made our way back to Icmeler. However, when we did get back we had a good look around the Old Village and when we had done that we took the bikes back as my 'backside' was unable to endure anymore pain!
Thanks for everyones advise, I should have posted on the
ICR forum shouldn't I ? Oh well, maybe it can be transferred somehow ?

Looks like lots of people do this walk but personally I wouldnt like to do it in all that heat. Dolmus for me!!
To me it seems further than the distance between Los Christianos and Las Americas. Suppose it depends if you are at the Marina end of
Marmaris or in Siteler area.

We did this walk in June, it was around 8am on a beautiful summers morning. We stopped a couple of times for a drink and also found a bar with a higher exchange rate than we had found in Icmeler.
It took us a couple of hours to do the walk, with stops, then we stopped for breakfast in
Marmaris at The Greasy Spoon, before heading back to
Icmeler on the water taxi. What a lovely morning it was.

The greasy spoon was a favourite of mine last time we stayed in Marmaris, we always called for a late breakfast on the way to the beach, also good for watching the mad turkish driving.

We make it a rule to do this one at least once every visit, whether we are in Icmelar or Marmaris, it is a lovely walk with plenty of places to stop for drinkies. It seemed to us that there was not half as much hassling this year since they were all closed down in May but you can still have some fun with most of the locals along the way. It would be a shame to stop all the bantering as this makes the holiday and you can make some good friends in the process. The only rule is if you are going to walk either way make sure you start early in the morning or it will so hot before you get there, even in October.
