Advanced Passenger Information

Postby dksbbs » 22 Mar 2010 20:43

For those people who have booked flights with Aegeanflights they now require API to be entered for each booking, goto View Booking and you can add the details there.

No go to their web site, select View Booking, enter your name and booking reference, you will then see the option to enter the details for each passenger.

I've never herd of this before, no word from the holiday company so how are people supposed to know?

Just looked on Aegean web site and I'm on there alright. One of our party hasn't got a passport yet, better hurry them along.

It's now required for various countries - a lot of the holiday companies seem to be fairly clueless about it though and there's been a lot of confusion about it. You need to supply your full name, date of birth, passport number, country that issued your passport and the date of passport expiration.

Go to Aegean Website
Click on View Booking at the top of the page.
It will ask for ref(invoice number) enter this but leave off the dash and any following Numbers.
Enter lead name but only put in the surname and no initial.
Then enter passenger details as requested.

It is quite simple and you will need everyones passport at hand who are on the booking.
Updates can be made at a later date if needed.

Aegeans is already online and its sister company H4U will be sorted in the next few days but they will mail everyone once ready so you can add your own.

I`d check with your tour operator as they said on the form we got that all the details must be as asked for,if not it could cause problems at check in and in certain circumstances refusal to travel

If your middle name is on your passport then i would put it on the API. if they don't need it then fair enough but if they do require it and you haven't put it on it could cause problems.

On the Aegean site you only need your Ref number and Surname to access the API form
They do not ask for your name because your name comes up from your booking

Date of Birth
Nationality
Passport Number
Expiry Date
Issuing state i e United Kingdom

yeah adavanced passenger information is simply more information required on each passenger so that security can be increased
it is a government piece of legislation by a number of countries especially for tourist places
it is simply incase anything happens that they have a increased amount of information on each passenger
the information must strictly match your passport so middle names are required if stated on the passport
hope this helps
for turkey the information is required if your flying into Dalaman, Antalya, Bodrum and Izmir

More destinations want API now. Easyjet ask for it whenever we go over to Poland but having been given it once their system remembers the info. & you don't have to re-enter it all. Maybe other airlines will too.

Were informed by our tour operator a couple of weeks ago they needed the details off our passport, if not received you might not be allowed on the plane. Seems this is becoming practice common nowadays, big brother is getting more and more close.
