i cooked sea bass in salt over the weekend and have got to say it was delicious, not as good as eating it outside in the warmth of
icmeler but very nice all the same. I was just wondering what other people's favourite meals are when they are in icmeler

Funny what some people think of as being "Turkish" food? Wouldn't have classed the likes of fish and chips or a mixed grill in that category myself...

I love all kinds of Turkish food (never really tried anything I haven't enjoyed), especially lamahcun (Turkish pizze) and cucek. Also went out on a day trip with Donna last October and had ayran to die for at a village restaurant - it's so refreshing when you're hot and thirty. Used to have cravings for things like this and had to travel to Portsmouth to find a restaurant here for Turkish food but now there is a new one in Reading. My daughter and myself went there last Monday and had lunch - lamahcun, cucek washed down with Efes, and it tasted really authentic. Can't wait to get back to
icmeler in May for more of the real thing!

Following on from my mum's post I did really enjoy the turkish pizza we had at our local Turkish restaurant last week but I have to say my fav Turkish meal is Eskender Kebab. Skewered lamb, Chunks of Bread, Tomatoe sauce (like salsa but not spice) yoghurt normally served with Rice and Chips. My fave one so far was at Friends bar in the main square. Bring on May 2010.

The Anatolian Pot at Selam is the best meal I've had in Turkey. Superb.

If you stand at the front entrance of the Efes Inn and look over towards the canal you will see Jimmy Okimos is on the righthand side on the corner. All the meals are super and Jimmy and his wife make everyone welcome. Hope you visit and experience the service and quality of the food. He also plays some lovely background music.

Chicken Topika (think thats how you spell it) at the Selam, it's so tender real melt in the mouth stuff, with a lovely creamy and chilli sauce. Oh how I wish I was there now.
And the Rack of lamb at the lighthouse, know that it's not really Turkish but it's to die for.

I know what you mean, bill - and I wasn't having a go at anyone, just when I read the topic, I was expecting to read more about people's favourite actual Turkish dishes, rather than the kind of food you can get anywhere. It wasn't intended as a dig or anything like that.
