Interesting. From the Turkish radio I heard while on Rhodes I was expecting the sound of cats being strangled. This is good to listen to.
Can this station or something similar be picked up in Icmeler?

Yes thats what a lot of people think turkish music is like (cats wailing ) But i love it and make a lot of mixes and take them to turkey for the bars and hotels to play, i have just made a Turkish video remix, take a look and tell me what you think. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMcpcT6D_uo

Hi All,

Bikerjambo I know of a couple of Turkish Rock/Metal Bands as that is the type of music I prefer but also enjoy a bit of Turkish pop. Quite a diverse taste in music on my ipod. :D

The 2 that I have downloaded recently are:

MaNGa and Mor Ve Otesi

I found out about Manga from the MTV Europe awards last year as they won best european group. Mor Ve Otesi were Turkey'e Eurovision entry a couple of years ago too.

Not sure if they are heavy enough for you but this is the heaviest I have found Turkish wise. :D

Brought an album of each from Itunes for about £5.00.

Enjoy listening. Let me know what you think. :D

I could live with that sort of music in a bar, just watched both on youtube and Manga in particular remind me of some of the softer stuff that Rammstein do! You'd think the same guy does the vids for both (maybe does).
Bring it on!

Hey again Bikerjambo,

Your right Manga are little Ramstien-ish. I was not sure how heavy you liked your music but as this was the heaviest I had come across so far thought I should pass this on to you as you were asking. Haven’t looked at the videos on youtube but will take a look when I get home to see what you mean.

I remember being Friends bar one night and they played Rock Star by Nickleback. I was impressed as this was the heaviest I had heard played in a Icmeler bar/restaurant. Majestic did once play Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) by Green Day one evening but this was during their mellow over music dinner session so not heavy at all but was happy to hear a bit of Green Day whilst in my fav place.

Just another side thought while on the subject of alternative music genres, a few months ago there was a thread on the forum titled ‘A Perfect Icmeler Virtual Bar’ where members could give details of what their perfect bar would be to open in Icmeler. I added a comment about opening an alternative bar in Bar Street if I had the money etc. I think it was then Donna that posted that there was/is an alternative bar down bar street. She was not sure whether it was still open or not but may be worth a look if you get change on your next visit. I might go for an amble down there when I am there in May. Take a look at the thread for more information. The last post on that thread was 20.12.2009 so it maybe a little further back on the forum.

Will let you know of any more Turkish Alternative bands that I come across in future.

Speak soon.
